Naked Truth|A GIRL, A DOG AND US
"New Delhi" the capital of India and also known as the rape capital of the world (Its nothing like that but just exaggeration), I can never accept this as I love my Delhi and I am proud of it, Why, Ummmm because my patriotic sentiments does not allow me to say anything against my country. I love my India and dare anyone say anything about it in front of me.
Busy streets of Delhi and here I am sitting on the balcony of my Hotel Star view," located at the main intersection of Paharganj, New Delhi", sipping my chilled beer. It's so loud out there that it would not even suppress the sound of an Atomic explosion. People who have visited this area of Delhi might be able to understand what I am talking about. Cars, Autowlala's, cycle rickshaw's, dogs, cows, pigs and the mule carts. Ohh sorry, I forgot to mention about humans. I mean a perfect blend of jungle and civilisation. A perfect place for the display of normal life in Delhi. Right in front of me is a sweet shop. I do not know why but whenever I see food, it ignites my hunger and then all dieting plans vapourise and my urge to eat always win but wait for a second, what's happening there? Ohh a poor pup got hit by a Rickshaw puller right in front of this sweet shop and its screaming in pain.I could see it's leg got hurt badly. Life goes on and I can see that its screams are getting merged in traffic and it has given a new rhythm to the music of moving traffic. It feels like another musical instrument has been introduced and soon people are getting used to it. While listening to the screams and in an attempt to get used to it, I am looking at the other events happening and my eyes wandered to the right towards other shops when from the corner of my eye I noticed something happening in front of that sweet shop.
A white girl is trying to give water to this pup while rubbing its back. Her back is towards me and I started looking at her. You know what but while looking at her I could not stop sneaking a look at the naked part of her back which got exposed as her white t-shirt got lifted a little in her attempt to look closely at that Pup. Well, this is not at all a usual scene to me but no here I was wrong. Continuity of my experiences happened when I saw the workers of that sweet shop standing out and looking at this girl. Looking at this girl and waiting to offer some help? no, There eyes are on her cleavage and their hands are right there at their proud organ while looking at this girl who is bent towards the front and making that pup drink water and trying to make it calm but our guys are enjoying the show of her youth. Whispering while trying to look more deeply into her t-shirt. I heard some whispers and when I looked right beneath my Balcony, I found few boys standing in a group and looking at the back of that girl and analysing the shape of the buts. Her shirt got lifted a little exposing her back a little and these guys got the real platform to land their eyes on a smooth skin. I got so frustrated with their devilish act but wait, I was doing the same thing a few minutes ago. What the hell is wrong with me and for a second I was ashamed at my act and was thinking that what my mother would say if she learns about what I was thinking.
I could sense these guys were talking about approaching her and offer some help while giggling at the comments they were making while discussing this agenda. On the other hand, this white girl is just trying to help this poor pup, unaware of the surrounding and unaware of the fact that she is displaying her assets to the public and most of them are enjoying the show to the fullest. Wait for a second all this was happening while she is wearing a decent white t-shirt and a black denim jean. What is it that attracted every one attention. Maybe it is the straps of her black bra which are visible from the shoulders but hey man everyone has seen their mother and sisters wearing these and they get exposed many times a day while they do house chores. No, this cannot be the reason. Then maybe her white and smooth skin was the reason but then again our sisters and mothers have the same skin. All this was going through my mind while She stood up, still unaware of the fun she was providing and asked for a clean cloth to the guys standing in front of that sweet shop. She should tie her bra around the pup's leg, someone giggled in Hindi. Now everyone is on the move as she asked for help. All of sudden there is a flow of humanity amongst all and everyone is trying to show how concerned they are. One of them brought a bandage and antiseptic cream and sat down with her to help her apply it to the wound of the Pup. I could see that in an attempt at helping her he now was taking full advantage to look deep into her cleavage and also got successful in touching her smooth white hands. All his friends are jealous now and they were giving expressions that this guy had finally hit the jackpot and is going to bed this girl tonight.
I will stop narrating the scene now. Guys, this is the reality of us. This is what we people do on the streets. Ths is our character. I could not see any more exploitation and moved into my room while sipping on my still chilled beer. Isn't this what we do every day and still get angry when someone calls Delhi: the rape capital of India. Lot of Nirbhayas will happen and one day one Nirbhaya will be our daughter, sister or wife. What will we do then? I know what we will do.

The crime is first committed in the head ! Rape is in the mind. It is first committed in the dark alleys of a distorted psyche. Discrimination, oppression is first committed in the darkness of the mind..
Given half a chance, masculinity never fails to prove that it is savage, oppressive, brutish, and disrespectful , self-centred and untrustworthy !!!!

I am from Delhi and what you have seen and narrated is my day to day life experience when outside home though i am ordinary looking with not so white skin but who cares i am a girl and that is enough for men in Delhi.
I agree with you but exceptions are always there. I won't say that all men look at women in this way perhaps the equation could be 60:40. Beauty, complexion or clothes have nothing to do with eve teasing or rape, in fact, it is the sick mentality of the offender. Now is the time when women should start educating their kids to respect women. This is the same society where women had upper hand in society and all women were worshipped as the goddess. This kind of mentality had been imported over time. We need to fix this and we start at home. @shagungupta
It saddens me when I realise this is the state of our country. I'd say the situation is the same in almost every other city in the country. The same men who stare at other woman are the ones who make a ruckus when somebody stares at their girlfriend, wife, sister or mother.
I had a similar experience to yours when I was in Bangalore. I was along with my friends and were roaming around the streets of Kammanahalli area when we found a dog which was extremely ill. Some car had probably hit it a few days ago and the wound was not treated. As a result, it had a very bad infection with worms on it & the dog was not able to move properly. We wanted to help it but we didn't know how to treat it or whom to contact. We bought a small packet of biscuit for it but it was not even making an effort to eat them. It was not late until 2 foreign women came to treat it with some essentials, they probably saw the poor dog before us & went to the nearby medical shop to get cloth bandages, dettol & gloves among other things. Till then there were hardly any crowd but when they came to help the dog, a countable number of men appeared all of a sudden. These men were staring at the women when they were treating the wound. Their back area was exposed & the people were shamelessly looking at it and giggling at the scene with their friends. The dog kept moving around in pain when the wound was being treated. One of them even took out his mobile pretending to take a picture of the dog but he clearly wasn't. I wanted to speak, I badly wanted to make him realise his shameless act but my friends refrained me from doing so since they were locals and if we speak up something, we'll probably get beaten up.
What disturbed me more was when both the women knew what the men were doing but still they carried on their tasks. They even said in an annoyed tone to the others to stand & enjoy expecting them to go away but nobody batted an eye except for an old man who joined them in the end.
India is not the rape capital of the world. Rape happens everyday and half the victims never report it. On the flipside, there are men and women who try to abuse the system to fulfill a personal vendetta.
How do we as a Nation address rape?
Get to the next generation early. Educate them about what is right and wrong. It is easier to help form mindsets than it is to change mind sets.
I never said that India is the rape capital of the world. I used it for New Delhi. I have references from newspapers and different media channels to support this but again I would say it is a strong term to use. This is happening through out India and our news papers are reporting scug incidents daily. My point is that we should be self-critic when such thoughts come to our mind. I am.... @kedar-ub
From the knowledge and news that I read is men have a wrong idea about the meaning of masculinity while women tend to behave like penurut.Hal also can happen in the household so that cases of rape prone occur. The man there lives in a conservative society. In schools, sex education can not afford the curriculum as it could be "destructive" to youth and traditional values. Therefore, many men do not do it and keep searching for justification for what they are doing.
Even less that May be attacked They do not teach about sex education while in school. Parents do not use words like penis, vagina, rape, or sex in everyday life so men do not even know if they are raping) is a mistake. Even so, there is also a claim to be wrong and regret the act of an actor who confessed to raping a five-year-old boy. He admitted his actions were wrong by saying, 'yes I feel bad. I risked his life and he is not a virgin yet. Big time no one will marry her. But I will accept it, I will marry him from prison.

It just frustrates me that people do not think at all to what is right or wrong. How hard it is to understand to respect women around. They give us life and in return, we look at them as a sex object.
This post narate the nature of rape. Sometimes,the lady is to be blame for her dressing, appearance and comportment. While other time the guys are to be blame for their nature of thought and how they percieve their opposite sex. Regardless of sex and geographical location, we live in an evil society but the mindset of the people is the major determinant on the rate of crime in a community.
I feel sad that this is happening, taking sexual advantage of a situation is the problem yet we can't address it properly. I don't know maybe it is human nature but I hope we all can learn to control it

Don't worry buddy. Those times are still present. Many parts of India have culture where still female are considered Goddess and raising hands on women are considered sin. My society still follow this culture. :)
