Sportbike Ride Sand on the Road
Riders must constantly watch out for road hazards that effect traction or could otherwise find themselves in an accident very quickly. Usually sand on the road does not bother a car that much at all because 3 other tires still have traction. Motorcycles are very sensitive to traction issues as shown in the following video.
At 0:25 and especially at 0:40 my son almost slid out into a high side accident because the rear wheel got very squirrelly in the sand on the road. Hitting sand while the bike is leaned over is a killer because the road friction or traction is keeping the rear tire from sliding out. Thanks for watching and enjoy your ride!

He didn't die or wreck so he was successful. The rain grooves cut into freeway concrete makes most bikes squirrelly and slid back and forth when ridden over. Riders have to stay loose and don't fight it. 😃
Where is the sand coming from? Someone with unsecured loads, or high wind blowing the crap from the berm?
Sand is right at the edge of the road. Wind and car tires move it onto the road. This is desert country so what looks like dirt is sand. Bikes have to watch out for tan road cause black road is good traction. 😃

That is right Codge, all those things and more. Bikes have to be careful over many things that don't bother a car much at all. Most of the time, rolling over those things at high speed is better than slow. Being straight up and not leaned over helps too. 😃

So get a bike and start riding again. I always think of things I need from the grocery so I grab my backpack and run to the store on my zx10r.
I didn't really need anything but wanted an excuse to go for a small ride. 😃
Bad knee and ankle on one side means i can't use foot-pegs for very long.
