South Africa

in #life7 years ago

As I mentioned in my previous post(also it was my first post go check it out) I live in South Africa. South Africa is a beautiful county with many different types on environments. We have deserts, forests, tropical beaches and savannas. But South Africa is a place of contradictions. We have one of the if not the strongest economies on the continent but compared to western first world countries the economy sucks. We don't really have that many natural disasters other than the occasional flood. We don't get huge earth quakes or tornadoes yet the country is one of the most dangerous to live in in the word because of crime and a mostly inept police force. We have wi-fi, 4g and even fiber in the cities and nearly everyone has has a cell phone but its not at all uncommon that we don't have running water on power for a few hours or even days at a time. The country is pretty developed but most of us cant drink the water from the tap. I think the best example of this is a bus station where I dropped my friend of a couple of weeks ago. The back of the station is very neat, modern and clean but the front of the station looks like something you would find in a mad max movie. its dirty, some of the busses are old and falling apart. There does not seem to be any order to whats is going on. The building are old and run down. Its just not a very nice place to be. I guess what I'm saying is South Africa is moving forward while at the same time we are stuck in the past.
