The Lilium Jet – The World's First All-Electric Vtol Jet

in #life7 years ago (edited)

The Lilium Jet successfully completed its maiden test flight series in the skies above Bavaria. The 2-seater Eagle prototype executed a range of complex maneuvers, including its signature mid-air transition from hover mode to wing-borne forward flight.
This brings the possibility of clean, green air travel closer than ever before. With the necessary pilots licence one could take off or land, just about anywhere, local flying restrictions permitting. The latest generation batteries and fight design have brought the range to an incredible 300km. If recharged with renewable energy this represents a pivotal moment in history when you humans can fly with the birds ... powered only by wind and sun!
Auto pilot, and self flying/driving will no doubt be an option shortly with the increase of AI autonomous driving systems in the automotive industry continuing apace.

It's a great model - having spent time in light aircraft recently I can really feel the potential and joy to fly this baby!

May be highly efficieng solar panels can work. Advanced CFD based simulation can help making aircraft more aerodynamically stable with significant reduction in drag. Plus advancement in material manufacturing, making extra light fuselages is also on horizon.
Nice post@icedrum

Thank you xabi - excellent points!
I am very excited by this design... it's like the next level of transportation!
My local roads in the deep south out Cost Rica are often impassable because heavy rain and erosion... but we have lots of clean green electricity ... these would be perfect! :D

Thanks For Giving Us a Great post and Youtube video i like it @icedrum

A small electrical plane like this would be a game changer for commuters like myself. I have a 64km (40 miles) commute to work. I am on the road in traffic for 2-3 hours a day, wasting time and polluting the environment.
Impressive how smoothly the vertical take off is. I am already fantasizing how it would feel to fly over traffic and to get to work in about 13 minutes.
Thanks for the post!
