What Is Truth – Human Rights

Most people seem to agree that humans have rights and many agree that all living things have rights. Sadly many people also feel as if the rights we think we should have do not actually exist.  There are many areas of truth and recently I began to allow my inner dialogue explore the concept of human rights. Much of my recent meditations on this topic are shaped by YouTube Content about conspiracy theories(truths?) and some Netflix shows like “Rotten”, “Dirty Money” and “ The Naked Truth”.  

One of my first observations about human rights is that having a right means that someone or some people must recognize that I have that right. In the case of a right to healthcare, we obviously do not have that right in the USA because it is not recognized by our government. Maybe we can call that a potential future right? 

If we have a right that is recognized, it is recognized by an authority like a God, a National Government or Judicial Entities and their associated entities like Armies and Law Enforcement. It all seems rather silly and needlessly dramatic to have rights that we must constantly fight to assert. 

 “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”These are beautiful words and describe a great foundation for a government to define itself. How do you feel about your rights today? Please, do share even if your country is not the US 

As I allow my inner dialogue to explore this topic, things in the real world seem ugly, frightfully ugly. I think we spend too much time talking about things, like our right to healthcare, for example. I think that we need to stop talking about rights and so many other concepts and learn to actually experience them.  What could a world where we all recognized each other’s unalienable rights actually look like? I feel it in a part of me, a world where every person loves their neighbor as they love themselves. 

I really believe that “rights” and “human rights” should be an instinct instead of a concept or ideal, If you agree, how do we help our world develop this instinct.
