Are Mangroves Beneficial for Us?

in #life4 years ago (edited)

Hello Everyone

There are many things in life that we don't pay attention to, even though it is something that is important to all of us, for example mango forest. Where I live in Aceh - Indonesia we find a lot of mangrove forests that have been destroyed to be used as fish ponds. indeed this is good in the short term but it will be disastrous in the future. We are in a coastal area so the life of this area is important to us.

"According to Wikipedia A mangrove is a shrub or small tree that grows on the coast of salt or brackish water. This term is also used for tropical coastal vegetation consisting of species- Mangroves are found throughout the world in tropical and subtropical areas, especially between latitudes 25 ° N and 25 ° S. The total area of global mangrove forests in 2000 was 137,800 square kilometers (53,200 square miles), covering 118 countries and territories. [1] "

"Mangroves are salt resistant trees, also called halophytes, and are adapted to live in harsh coastal conditions. They contain complex salt filtration systems and complex root systems to cope with salt water immersion and wave action. They adapt to the low oxygen conditions of the waterlogged mud. [2] "

my friends and I tried to see up close by using a motor fishing boat the level of damage and carried out mapping activities of the area.

We hope that more and more young people will care about the environment, especially mangroves. because there are so many benefits of these mangroves for us.

The benefits of mangrove forest conservation are:

  1. Protecting natural ecosystems to maintain ecosystem balance.
  2. Protect the flora and fauna in it, to keep these species from becoming extinct.
  3. Protecting the ecosystem from damage, whether caused by human factors or natural factors.
  4. Keeping the environment in order to stay awake.
  5. Maintaining natural ecosystems is also unique.

Those are the results of our trip that we hope to be useful and serve as a reminder to all of us of the importance of preserving nature. We also hope that in the future there will be many steemit community programs that will be directly involved in environmental conservation efforts. because a sustainable environment is a source of good life
