Two iconic women

in #life7 years ago (edited)

One of my earliest memories as a child Is of my mother flipping through a Vogue magazine and showing me a style profile on Jackie O. and all the beautiful clothes she wore. This memory prefaces the two iconic women I’d like to profile, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel. My name is Jaclyn. I was named after Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis was the wife of the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, thus making her First Lady of the United States. She is known and remembered for her lifelong contributions to the arts and preservation of historic architecture, as well as for her style, elegance, and grace.

She was a fashion icon, and known as such especially for her Chanel power suits. Which brings me to the second woman, Coco Chanel.

Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel was a French fashion designer and businesswoman. She was the founder and namesake of the Chanel brand. Her design aesthetic redefined the fashionable woman for the post World War I era. The Chanel trademark was a look of youthful ease, a liberated physicality, and unencumbered sportive confidence. She is credited with the creation of the LBD little black dress, dressing women In pants, and the suit for women, among other things.

I leave you with two quotes of these iconic women:

“I am a woman above everything else.” Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”
Coco Chanel

I miss the style of the 1930's through 1960's may not have been comfortable but damn did they look defined.

Haha and to you too!
