How the Power of Gratitude Transforms Our Life

in #life7 years ago

Every single person on this planet strives to be happy, healthy and wealthy. We put all of our focus towards things that can provide us a better quality of life. In order to take proper care of ourselves, we all try to have good food, exercises, homes, jobs and all such stuff. While struggling for the basic necessities of life, we forget such a simple and natural thing that can completely change our outlook on life. Empowering yourself with gratitude is a beautiful and healthy habit that boost up your soul, your mind, your health, your spirit, your relations, and your life.

What is Gratitude Exactly?
People talk much about developing a habit of thinking positively and being an optimistic person. Is this what gratitude involves? Gratitude is a vast concept that knows no bound. Gratitude involves appreciating the little pleasures of life, celebrating the memorable moments, counting the blessings, learning to be persistent, and acknowledging everything that life throws at you.
Yes, we all have moments in our lives when it becomes really tough to stay grateful and appreciative of things. We all face challenges and difficulties that force us to be a kind of person that knows no kindness or thankfulness. But, at these moments of life when looking for the good becomes hard, the power of gratitude can greatly help us in dealing with the rough and tough life with the best possible attitude.
Gratitude enriches human life and without it, life becomes sad, lonely and impoverished. It changes our focus from the mess of the life to the bundle of blessings that are already present. It is a complete state of mind that we can cultivate daily no matter what kind of circumstances we go through.

How the Power of Gratitude Benefits Us
Many behavioral and psychological researchers have shown that gratitude transforms our lives in a great way and helps individuals in making surprising life improvements by providing them the necessary strength to deal with the unfortunate circumstances.
Let’s discuss how gratitude transforms our life:

  • Healthy Life
It is reported in a recent study that gratitude induces a relaxation response, reduces depressive symptoms by 35%, decreases systolic blood pressure, improves sleep quality, increases sleep duration, removes the burden, and boost up energy levels.

Gratitude is associated with optimism. Optimism makes humans happier, healthier and increases lifespan. Yes, my dear! You have heard it right! Experts have concluded that gratitude holds the power to extend your lifespan by a few months or even years. It is also concluded that an optimistic person lives longer than a pessimistic person.

  • High Level of Spiritualism
Having a contented and peaceful soul is directly related to the feelings of gratitude. Think it this way: the more spiritual you are, the more you are supposed to be grateful. All the major religions of the world declare gratitude as a virtue. I strongly believe that gratitude elevates your level of spiritualism by connecting you closer to the God or other religious entities that you follow. High level of spirituality, in return, gives rise to a grateful behavior.

The power of gratitude makes you less self-centered and allow you to spend more time thinking about making others happy. When you start following compassion and gratitude practices, you naturally and spontaneously develop a strong urge to help others.

  • Healthy Relationships
The power of gratitude makes us a kind person who loves to connect with other people. When you meet new people in your life who share the same kind of thoughts as you do, it becomes fun to spend time with them. You always learn new things by connecting with people. Gratitude gives us a certain level of maturity to deal with other individuals. You develop a habit of having healthy relationships which are not forced or violent. When you think of empowering others, you gradually overcome feelings of insecurity, materialism, inferiority, unhappiness, and enviousness.
Gratitude strengthens us so much emotionally that we get an extra power to deal with the harsh realities of life. Yes, gratitude cannot cure horrible diseases but it gives you the power to be thankful for what you still have while fighting with your illness. The optimistic behavior either leads to fast recovery or gives you the ability to handle the pain. It also strengthens our immune system that help us in coping with the tough medical procedures.

  • Some Final Words
Life is too short to be happy and too long to be sad and lonely. We only get one life to live. In this one and only chance, try your best to enjoy every little moment to the fullest. Your thoughts make you or break you. It is up to you to create something amazing from your life. Induce optimism in life and stop complaining. Celebrate your life as much as you can!
