Let's start talking about writing as an art. It has been very well represented for thousands of years as one of the oldest forms of expression originated from the human being. Writing on caves, writing on the walls, writing on a piece of papers, artistically speaking, writing hasn't changed its core that much throughout the years. Humans have written to make others laugh, to create a memorable character, and sometimes to express distaste for something.

We used to write on the walls of our caves because they were significant for us, they represented safety and were also the place where we used to have social relationships with others. Then we started writing on the walls of our monuments (ancient Egypt) because cavemen at that time seemed pretty long ago, so cavemen were already considered archaic. It all changed when we started writing on paper because writing acquired ephemeral characteristics.

Everyone knows that paper is very fragile, can be burned, soaked with liquids, etc. Before paper was created I don't think we cared too much about conserving a piece of rock with writings on it, currently, there's a lot of petroglyphs from thousands of years ago, even my country has some, you can look at them here: Source

Conclusion: We didn't have to worry too much about the storage of our writing because we used long-lasting methods. Paper changed the game for the simple reason that you can burn a book to ashes (yes I know that you can dynamite a petroglyph rock but let's keep it simple). The third big game changer was the arrival of the Internet.

We saw the Internet as a technology for nerds and it turned out to be a whole pseudo fictional space for us humans. And I say pseudo fictional because is merely an illusion what we see in the net. Let me bring some light into this subject. There are real spaces and fictional spaces where humans interact. Real spaces have the characteristics of touch, sight, hearing, taste and even smell. If you're sharing a pizza with a friend your whole body is interacting via your 5 senses, you see your friend, you hear the sounds of the street, taste the pizza, smell your own perfume (or sweat, I don't judge haha), and when you say goodbye you feel the touch of a handshake or a friendly hug. 5 senses, real.

Fictional spaces are more abstract, but to be put in simpler words these are the spaces with 2 main characteristics, number one: no physical presence, and number two: you don't receive information through your five main senses.

Here's one of my favorite paintings from great abstract artist Pablo Picasso. I'll use this as an example, as you can see this piece of art called "weeping woman" seems like it has scrambled shapes, and maybe you're wondering "How can this be named weeping woman? I don't even see tears" Well, you'll have to look closer.

At contemplating a painting you only use your eyes mostly, you don't taste a painting or hear it. And since it is a form of communicating information, ergo, art is a fictional space of interaction. You can HEAR music, you can TOUCH sculptures and when you can see and hear at the same time it's called filmmaking (Big surprise, that's why filmmaking is considered an art, it combines bot visuals and auditive channels to transmit information without using all the senses) In this example Mr. Picasso is telling you that this is what it LOOKS like a weeping woman for him. But how does a weeping woman sound?

We all have acknowledged art as a form of expression and by extension a way for us humans to interact with others. What happens with art and its cliche characteristic of commonly being misunderstood is that for us as sensitive beings is hard to communicate through fictional spaces because we would have to extract some of our senses. But what has happened with the different iterations of the communicative channels as forms of expression and what happened with the Internet thing Javo?

Yes I know, I'm saying a lot of questions, I think it's time to answer some of them:

  • I'm certain that are various iterations of this communicative forms through art that haven't been tested. Have you heard about writing mixed with music? No, I'm not talking about listening to a song, I'm talking about reading and listening to a song at the same time (don't look at me like that, didn't you read the whole post?)

  • With the integration of blockchain we're back on the track of having a long-lasting form of keeping our information for who knows how long. The Internet 3.0 is our new set of walls to write on.

  • I've always thought that writing/reading is a very silent activity, what would it be if everytime you read something there's music in the background that complements what you're reading

  • I love writing and I love music, to me those are the closest to a non-physical form of communication. I want to test the creative limits of Steemit. Let me tell you what has been playing every time you see an entry, at least from me.
