Acts of kindness, the world needs more.
Just a quick blog, it's not really much but today I was served notice of redundancy from my manager's manager. (work politics, who needs em?) and I was feeling rather crappy.
Went for a hop as still on the crutches around town and decided to grab a juice at the new juice bar. There were 2 girls, most likely just left school judging their ages, 1 had ordered and the other did not. She explained she had no money and was out looking for summer jobs. As I had ordered the same drink as her friend, I decided to give my juice to the girl and order another for myself. She looked embarassed initially, but all I said was 'don't worry about it, everyone deserves something for nothing every now and then'.
Later on my boyfriend saw the girl walking across the street smiling and drinking her juice. I don't wish for any material gain from doing this, but if more people did this type of thing, the world may be a more chilled out place.
In the movie Holy man, with Eddie Murphy,
the main character named G tells a story where he came into a beach with thousands of starfish laying on the beach dying.
He sees a girl throwing one starfish at a time back into the water. G asks her why she's trying so hard, because she can't possibly save them all.
She responds, to THIS one it makes a difference. And to THIS one it makes a difference!
In conclusion, thanks for paying it forward. To that one it made a difference!
If we had no concept of Money, Power and Religion the World would be a better place.
