Angel Falls, the largest waterfall in the world
Source
This magnificent waterfall is located in the Canaima National Park, in the state of Bolívar, in southern Venezuela. It is one of the oldest geological zones of the planet and due to its incredible beauty it was declared a Natural Patrimony of the Humanity by UNESCO in 1994. In the western sector of the park is the Auyantepuy which is one of the best known tepuyes (the tepuyes are the immense mountains with the top flat as a table). From this tepuy is born El Salto Angel, which is the largest waterfall in the world, with about 979 meters of free fall.

Angel Falls owes its name to the man who discovered Jimmy Angel , was an American aviator and adventurer, who saw for the first time this jump in 1933 with his partner, while searching for the legendary Rio de Oro, or the Golden City. Jimmy returned in 1 937 with his wife and his friend Gustavo Enrique Gardener, after flying over the top of Tepuy he had to make an emergency landing at the top of the Auyantepuy . The plane came safely to the top and stayed there for 33 years.
Jimmy Angel and his companions were able to download and l Tepuy and return to civilization, walking 11 days through the jungle . The plane was rescued by a helicopter from the Venezuelan Air Force to be rebuilt as a tribute to the feat of Jimmy Angel. At present on the summit of the Auyantepuy is a replica of Jimmy's plane.

There are two ways to see Angel Falls, one ince the air by plane, the other is an excursion that starts from the Port Ucaima in Canaima, to the river Carrao and then by Churu n, lasts about 3 hours, then from the Churún River , up to the Angel Falls viewpoint, you should walk approximately one hour through the jungle, along this walk you can find immense trees with roots outside, as they do not get food in the subsoil and leave to look for it at the top.
