QUESTIONNABLE TOWING SCHEME !!!!!!!!

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Laws are drafted, studied and signed before it grows into something that protects people. It was supposed to keep the mass in order. Laws are made to correct every wrong doing.

Sometimes, these rules that supposed to make our life, at least for the law-abiding citizens, easier are becoming a problem.

LA vehicles code is a lot of things but forgiving is not one of them. No one is above the law one must say. Many a time has the City itself, received complaints and lawsuits filed by its people who believed that their rights were violated.
If I, myself experience an instance that will make me feel like my rights are violated, I must have done the same thing.

But laws are laws and it must be absolute. One must know at least the basic rule to avoid problems.

One activity that is not common to everyone is towing. You would not even care unless you experience it yourself. Only after you experience the hassle of getting yourself stranded in some places will make you conscious about the laws you might have or will violate.

Tow-y Holidays

Christmas is the most celebrated event in majority of places. In LA, these places have some towing incidents that gave tourists and locals both a bad experience.
Of course, we know what the tow away spots are, unfortunately, not all of us. Not always.

Some tow-away areas can be a free parking area during holidays, like Christmas and others. Moreover, same thing can be said during times of day that follows no specific schedule.

Meaning a tow-away zone can be one at the moment then free parking the next. How do you identify it? Be an observer. Chances are, big warnings are probably posted around the tow-away-now-later-not zones so mind these traffic advisories.

Say, you have a parking slot, you own. Legally. Now, I am your neighbour’s relative who happened to visit my sister for the holidays. I parked purposely, or not, at your official parking space. You are coming back from somewhere when you saw someone robbed you of your parking lot. For some reasons, you couldn’t find the car’s owner, who basically is myself.

What’s the right thing to do? Find another parking so you can have your parking lot again and your car towed.

It is basically, legal to have my car towed out of your private parking lot. With or without waring, you can, by all means, do that.
But if my car, that was parked on your slot is not working, meaning not functioning., for sone reasons, you will need to extend your patience and wait for 24 hours before you can call the cops and express your intent to remove the car which apparently is not functioning. Either without wheels, or engine or motor or any vital parts required to operate.

I don’t know but my question is what is the difference? If a my functioning car can be removed the instant I arrived when parked wrongly is legally towable, the more a non-functioning car is. Again, you can remove my car right away, you can have your parking sooner, than a non-functioning car that, although i arrive sooner will never going to be removed unless fixed first which takes more time, longer before you can have your parking back. I mean what do you guys think?

The 3-day limit.

**Now this one is debatable. **

You cannot leave your car on the sane parking lot for more than 72 hours. This one is a decade old ordinance in LA that limits your parking duration which according to the folklore is designed to get rid of homeless people living in cars or abandons vehicles. Who knows to what extent can they make these areas habitable. Take note the same applies to your car and parking lot.

Okay. So, you spent to some time countries for week to spend quality time with anyone or for any other reasons. 5 days top. Then, you came home only to find your ride missing? Now that’s unfair, right?

I mean come on. You left a car on your parking area. What has that to do with crimes and homeless people or anyone for that matter that would bring problems to anyone which basically is the purpose of having a law.
What are the chances of you winning in an argument on this? Well, that rule is older than your car probably,

So, a man can only complain.
