Cold Showers: They Will Change Your Life
I've been reading up on ways to help improve my productivity until one day I came across the topic of cold showers. There are already thousands of articles which discuss the benefits of cold showers. I read some before, but I was skeptical. But 3 months ago, I decided to try it out.
And It's fucking great.
If you're new to this topic, here are some of the benefits to which I alluded to earlier:
Increases Alertness: A cold shower in the morning kick starts your day. The moment the ice cold water hits you, your breathing rate and your blood oxygen levels will increase. A cold shower will feel like a natural double shot of espresso, leaving you completely energized for the day ahead.
Improved Skin And Hair: Warm showers, although warm and relaxing offer no tangible benefits to our skin and hair - unlike cold showers. Cold showers tighten up your pores and cuticles, which aids in detoxification, which benefits both your skin and hair.
Boosts Immunity: Cold showers triggers a natural response where blood rushes to surround vital organs. This enhances the blood circulation and also boosts immunity.
Stress Reliever: Health studies have shown that cold showers help the body produce noradrenaline, a hormone that is linked to reducing depression and stress.
Boosts Testosterone: It's claimed that taking cold showers is a natural way of enhancing testosterone levels in males.
I'm not totally convinced if the last one is true or not. And even if it did raise T-levels, the effects would be minimal; in my opinion there are much better ways to boost testosterone levels.
But all of that doesn't even matter.
The main benefits of cold showers are indirect. You create discomfort in your life. Our modern day lives are way too comfortable and we are used to always taking the easy option. Taking cold showers is a decision to NOT make it easy for yourself.
By doing this you change your mindset. You force yourself into a "Fuck it, bring it on" mood, which is exactly what you want; right from the get-go.
Another benefit you will notice is how your body adapts. This first cold showers will be pretty shitty, and you will begin to question why you are doing this in the first place. But don't give up. Hang in there, your body will adapt and you will eventually get used to it. It gets easier with each passing day.
This means you are getting tougher. Both mentally and physically.
So try out cold showers, even if just for a week. Take cold showers every morning and push through it.
You will experience your mental strength and will power increasing. And you will know why you want to make this a new daily habit.
So try it out, and report in a week!

Thanks for this info! But remember not to have a cold water shower after exercise. To my (highly limited) high school knowledge about biology, cold water shower will alert your body to reduce heat loss even if losing heat is highly essential after rigorous exercise.
Thanks for the tip!
I do it everyday, it is really good to wake up!!
Great post; your title caught my eye! Going to take a cold shower here in just a few minutes to get ready for the day! Im already a little scared!
