Can we influence the future?

in #life7 years ago (edited)

We are all human so often we have asked ourselves why certain unpleasant experiences came knocking on our front door. E.g. breaking up of a long time relationship, losing our job, losing a parent, a child or a very good friend, losing our house or other priceless possession, or being confronted with an incurable disease.....all experiences where we wished that we could turn back the time and do things different.

How often have we asked ourselves: "Why me?" How often have we asked ourselves what we did so wrong to deserve this?
But at the same time have we ever realized how often we stand still in life, just for awhile, and took the time to evaluate the actions we took, why we did these and what the consequences were? Do we fully understand the consequences of our actions, whether only words spoken or actions undertaken?

Did we ever think about the time connected to a certain type of consequence? E.g. if you punish your child YOU define the time of the punishment...15 minutes sitting in the corner or a week grounded. If it is in court the JURY or JUDGE defines the time. How much time will GOD define for consequences of our actions? Minutes, hours, days, years, a lifetime or more?

There is a relationship between our actions and the things we experience in life called consequences. Everything we experience, even the smallest unimportant event, is a consequence born out of an action. Some people call it punishment (frequently associated with a negative experience), some call it karma (cause and effect)...this is a universal law and every living thing is subject to this law.

Very difficult and complex subject if you ask me. But it is important to understand the mechanism. When understood, one can use this information to influence ones life by assessing first the possible consequences before deciding on the action. Of course not all risks can be mitigated but the effort is important. One should also understand that the consequence of an action may not neccesarily be experienced right after the action took place. You may have done something which you may think that it went unnoticed and that you're lucky. But were you really?? Some consequences can materialize after many years or lifetimes.....when the time is right.....because timing is very important. If the right time is choosen, you can learn the most out of it because all conditions are in favor of the individual....even for a consequence that will end up to be a bad experience.

Now we do not have a crystal ball and most of us can not predict the future. But we can influence the present. If we are in the middle of a crisis and we do not (yet) understand to the full extend how we ended up there....the following actions/tips do help:

  1. Find a place where you feel safe and protected. Try to separate the emotional feelings and listen to the voice within you. Yes it is in there! This process could be a lengthy one to learn how to calm down all thoughts and emotions.
  2. Start the self-reflection process and be honest to yourself. Find out where you went wrong (not OTHERS!), why you responded in that way and how to correct. Pay attention to the why as it is key for future experiences.
  3. Go back to the people who you have hurt, regardless of who started what. That is not essence. Put your pride and ego aside (ideal situation is to get rid of it). Do what you need to do to correct based on the advice you reveived from the Voice within.
  4. Show gratitude to the Higher Power that is guiding you through good and bad times.
  5. Take note of the lessons learnt. Prevention is better than correcting all the time. Less consequences.

Note that the power of the described process above lies in being truthful and sincere. Very important to understand is that we do not know to what extend this process is impacting the level of consequence as this process is undertaken "after the fact" . So one should not expect magic. However, the key message is that one can influence the presence by the lessons learnt, and therefore impacting the future as well.

Implementing the lessons learnt out of experience will prevent you from making the same mistakes. Does not matter in which package a potential problem may arise, you will be able to recognize it. But note: As long as you have not learnt the lesson, the problem will keep showing up in different shapes, involving different people in different places. You will only be older....but it will return with all its consequences. Because your actions are triggering the mechanism. Just like a child in the 4th grade. Only by passing all tests, he will move to the next grade. Your class is called life.

You decide your progress!
