Or Your Children Yours or just Borrowed?

Dear steemians,

I can already literally hear some of you thinking that I may have lost it and that you would probably just allocate 10 seconds of your precious time for this post...😊. So I will quickly continue with the 6 seconds I have left.

Raising our children is with no doubt a very great responsibility. When we are about to start a family, we are very excited and our wish list is already two pages long. Having a child is for many of us on the top of this list, nothing we can't handle! The moment they arrive in this world, we start with a new chapter of our life....a new song. We have it all sorted out and in a few occasions, even before the event has taken place, we have a plan A and B ready to kick in if needed. We start with the end in mind: whatever the point of departure is, we know what we must have achieved in the end.

As we are trying to stay in control of the process of upbringing, we probably have already come to the conclusion that this new generation is very different from ours in various ways. E.g. in their way of thinking, behaving and expressing themselves...they dare more, they want more, they want it now (sometimes even yesterday) and they seem to be in a hurry. Some of us try to adjust and go along as much as we can, but many of us can't keep up at all. Let's say it for ones....many of the values we were taught by our elders related to respect, integrity, simplicity, humility and helpfulness are hardly to be found. It seems like each generation is a bit more extreem than the one before.

One can sometimes wonder in utter silence if these children or really ours. Apart from the physical similarities, we have the expectation that the values we (tried to) pass through will also be reflected in their behaviour. Nevertheless, the effort we are putting in the process of shaping our children into strong individuals with a proper baggage of core values, will continue tirelessly.

So from a biological perspective they are of course our children...our blood. But one should be aware that from a spiritual perspective they are not. We human beings simply do not have the power nor the authority to create the spirit, which is the inhabitant of the physical body. So our children or actually TRUSTED to us to protect them, to take care of them and to teach them the spiritual fundamentals of life as taught by our Creator. So in fact, we have borrowed "our" children and, with everything in life that we have borrowed, there will come a time that we have to give them back to the OWNER.

What an honor it is to be trusted by God to take care of His children. Let's do everything we can to proof we are worthy of that trust.

Children are different today, they are exposed to the Internet for one thing so parents have a lot to contend to about upbringing their children. It will be a different world in the next years to come now.
