Trip to South India - Part 2
PART 2#Mysore - After having spent a wonderful time in Bangalore, my next destination was Mysore, which is about 90kms from the capital city of Karnataka, Bangalore. The climate as expected was cool, but the unseasonal rains played the spoilsport. But still, it was an awesome experience traveling to this part of the country. There were a number of foreigners seen in Mysore as it is one of the biggest tourist attraction, people from all the world come to this place to witness some of the most beautiful and lavishing palaces that you would ever see. Mysore Palace and Lalitha Palace are the most notable. Apart from a number of palaces, the Brindavan Gardens (the reason for me to see this place) is one of the biggest attractions. It was just fantastic spending a whole day with family at the Brindavan Gardens and when lights came on it made the place even more amazing.
Mysore is also famous for its religious places like Chanundeshwari temple, which is situated at top of Chamundi hills and St.Philomena's church.
The cuisine of Mysore was just mouth watering even though it was more of a Udipi type. Morning breakfast started with hot steamed idli's and hot coffee before I moved on to explore some of the most beautiful places that I had only heard off.
- Brindavan Gardens:
Brindavan Gardens is one of the biggest tourist attraction in Mysore, the garden is spread across 70 acres of land. It is also said to be one of the biggest gardens in Asia. Most of the Indian films are shot here. The night time is what we all were waiting for, once the clock touches 6:30, the garden erupts with lights and the icing on the cake was the musical fountain that made the atmosphere electrifying - Never miss out on this. It was an amazing experience.
-St. Philomena's Church:
St. Philomena's Church, is said to be the second tallest church in Asia, with a seating capacity of over 700 people.
-Mysore Palace:
This is one of the most historical palaces in the country. The architecture is simply unbelievable, the pink marble flooring and tall pillars give this three-storey building a rich look. The palace becomes special during the Dasara festival, when the entire palace is decorated with flowers and lighting in the month of October every year - Missed this one, maybe next time I will come again in the month of October to catch the glimpse of this beautiful palace.
This was the last day of my three-day stay in Mysore, It was a real joy spending time in with my family in this part of South India, from here I left for Ooty .......
