Ram Dass & Xanax
Every morning, I try to get at least half an hour of spirituality in before I shuffle my beastly nature out into the world. It's usually something like 20 minutes of a lecture and 10 minutes of shower meditation. (As long as I'm blessed with hot water in the morning. I live in an old building in Koreatown Los Angeles, and hot water is scarce in the AM.)
I take Xanax to fall asleep at night. I know, it's terrible. I've tried calming tea, melatonin, meditative sleep tracks, and they all work eventually, but nothing puts you out like a nice piece of Xanax.
I've been struggling with my identity lately, because my girlfriend and I have made a turn for the spiritual. Which is the dumbest thing I've ever said, so let me make a slightly less dumb statement. My girlfriend and I have made a return to the spiritual. I know! Hold up internet Guru's! Yes we can never really leave the spirit, but we've altered our path, refocused our consciousness. (Insert more profound description of our current situation.)
We are just a dirty rapper and ex-pornstar trying to grow up in the real world. However, for anyone else feeling a little bit like a hypocrite I'd suggest giving this Ram Dass lecture on Dharma a listen. I don't own it. So sorry, no Dtube link, but it's a wonderful dialog on dealing with the more human aspects of our spirituality.
Until next time, it's your favorite Shaman, Amen, your man. Kopus Mellini.
Have a blessed day. Stay woke.
