Moments That Make You Say “OH CRAP” While Owning A Home

in #life7 years ago (edited)

So we have only been in our house for a little over two months and there have been more “oh crap” moments than I ever would have expected such as:

  1. Oh crap, why is our basement is trying to become a kiddie pool
    (Main sewer pipe broke)

  2. Oh crap, the dryer is ripping holes in my clothes, and how the heck is that even possible!
(Felt attached to the drier drum was worn off)

  3. Oh crap, the water is supposed to stay inside the dishwasher not on the floor
(Still not entirely sure how this is happening…oops)

  4. Oh crap, the toilet is having a temper tantrum
(The handle broke and the inside rubber flapper was broken)

  5. Oh crap, I don’t have ants in my pants but I do in my house
(Carpenter ants in our garage thought coming into house would be a fun field trip)

I have to laugh about all this stuff because as soon as the first problem would get fixed the next one would happen. It’s like my house is trying to slingshot me into adulthood. Life skills, here let me help you! You have no knowledge of basic plumbing, I can fix that! With a home built in the 1950’s we knew there would be some kinks here and there but holy cow! I have to give a big shout out to my handy man father for putting up with me calling him a million times to ask countless questions of how to fix stuff or what I needed to buy. I’m now left wondering okay house, what’s next, bring it on I can take it!

Lol I giggled at this post. Its something that is supposed to be so welcoming but life sure has its moments. I liked your oil painting of the owl as well. I would never be able to attempt to try it but you did great on your first try.

I'm glad it made you laugh! Can't take life to seriously all the time, and thanks for the compliment on the owl :)

Thats why i rent and invest owning a house is to much but if you have a big family then a house is the way to go

Right now it's just my husband and I but we got such a good deal on the house, where we live renting would have been more expensive!

well its just me and my gf we pay 850 Canadian all inclusive got a great deal

Wow that is really good. How can you say no to all inclusive? The apartments around us are just meh. So a cheaper mortgage and square footage was good for us, oh the joys of homeownership :)
