Let it snow

in #life7 years ago

"Let It Snow" was written by lyricist Sammy Cahn and composer Jule Styne in July 1945, on a very hot day in California. That year during a heat wave Cahn and Styne, two colleagues and friends imagined cooler conditions. And song's lyrics did not have intentions to be a popular song or make no mention of Christmas. But as it turnes out, nowadays it is one ofthe most popular during Christmastide.

In my childhood I first time heard this song in "Die hard" with Bruce Williace. In Russia this song was in Miller beer commercial. And I loved it since.

In 1945 "Let it snow" was sung by Vaughn Monroe and became number 1 hit. And since 1950s many singers and actor resing and resing "Let it snow". But the most popular version is Sinatra's.

Personally for me, I love Andy William's singing from his album "Merry Christmas", 1965.
