ADULTING THE "RIGHT" WAY - am I doing it right?
"How old are you?"
Everyone has this jitters when someone asked this question and you are not happy about it. The thing is, it is often the time you silently, but quietly reflects a little as you gave them the number of your age.
You have this silent flashbacks on what are your accomplishments in life, what are your expectations for yourself, and whether you have reached it or not. More often than most, when you've seen the post of a batch-mate or a friend and saw that they've had this or that, there is that little voice at the back of our head saying "S/He has this already.. we are on the same age. what the bleep am I doing?"
That little voice were often silenced, ignored or being answered by a higher voice in our head with reasons not even you, yourself believed in. This is because whether you are 26, 35, 42 or even 55 years old, we all have that goal, we expected to be doing/ having that we never got. So where did we go wrong? What can we do to avoid those regrets?
How do I Adult?
Adulting - According to the urban dictionary, https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Adulting, Adulting is to carry out one or more of the duties and responsibilities expected of fully developed individuals.
Most of the time, this agony starts in the quarter life.
This is where you will realize you are all GROAN up and have to take responsibilities. You cannot live life anymore the way you have lived for the last years. There are expectations from your friends, families and culture. And the worst things about it, is that the older wiser generations - no matter which, has this standard on what SHOULD you be doing in your life.
And that sucks.
So again the question, HOW DO I ADULT???
First of all you have too figure out your FINANCES.
If you are earning, less on what you are spending, then you have got to make the ends meet so you will end up in a lot of debt. As an adult you no longer have/can/should run back to your parents each time you got short. You have to learn your finances, have a budget plan and stick to it. If not, either look for a job that pays more or adjust your spending.
Are you buying things you don't need? Are you living life the way above your means? Where can you adjust? Have these answered and you will realized how easy is handling your finances, if you stick to it. You have got to save for retirement and start that investing plan.
Next, find your PASSION.
Are you doing the job you want? is this what you want to do for the rest of your life? Is there anything you want to know, do or find?
The thing is, we never excel on doing what doesn't make us happy, our jobs will stay standard, enough to just pay the bills, but you will never excel and be happy about it once you come home. Find that thing that satisfy the cravings of your soul. Of course, we have to be realistic and set specific guidelines on how you can achieve it. From where you are right now, are you doing the thing that makes you genuinely happy?
Next, Invest in yourself.
There is that phrase, fake it, til you make it. You have first of all look like an adult to be an adult. I'm not saying to look like that old person and dress in traditional clothing. Be the part, buy clothes that gives you respect and admiration to feel that you know what you are doing. I'm not saying to purchase that expensive outfit. Just buy clothes that makes you feel comfortable, decent, and of course, and adult.
To invest in yourself, you have to invest in your physical well being too. Drink that water, hit the gym, eat healthy. This should be the mantra. Discipline will get you anywhere you put your heart into. There is no easier way to save for the future than to eat healthy, live healthy.
You will save up a lot from eating healthy, and of course from hospital bills etc.
And finally, Know that there is always room for improvement.
We all have that regrets, don't let it took and waste all of your time being sad about it. The whole adult thing is about sucking it up and moving on. Learn from the mistakes you made. And know that you can do this. It's all right not to know all the answers and it's all right not to follow the leads of our ancestors. It is not necessary to follow their steps. But it is necessary to learn form their experiences and apply it on your own life.
Then you decide. Are you adulting right?
Kaya pala nag da drama kagabe hahahahhaha eto pala yun
ahahahhahahahaha
