Finding Your Center

in #life7 years ago

Hi Steemians, weekend is finally here and I hope you have a wonderful time of rest and catch up with friends and family.

Most of the time, weekends for me, is my Sabbath (a time of rest); and it is when I find my center through different ways.

Lately, I know I have been thrown off by my center, because there have been so many things happening. Most of them are not bad things; just that I was not able to quickly balance it up, realigning myself with my own methods

No offence to those who has been trying (too hard) to help me (in the real world), but everyone has very different way to re-align because I know they have good intentions. One can only do so much to suggest, the rest, it is up to the individual to expand and find his / her own way to remain center.

(I really appreciate their well intentions, but it is draining more than up-building sometimes)

Unless that person totally has no direction, then yes, it is very important to help to re-align the poor lost soul by giving some directions.

One man’s food is another man’s poison. I forgot where I read this, but it stuck with me till this day.

So... Why Finding Your Center is Important?

Imagine the spinning top that is out of balance

Look how unstable the spinning top is.

Like humans, it is all over the place, it could not stand still. And for us human reactions, the first sign is grouchy.

This is probably when you are pulled from all sides and you are trying to oblige human desires. Not centered desires.

For me, fellowship and outings are fine, they are really good for the soul, but when it starts to drain me, I know I am out of focus.

Some, on the other hand, finds meeting people helps keeping him / her centered. Because probably that’s the only one thing he / she needs.

(Or so it seems? Some are running away, taking it as refuge ... who knows?)

Being Centered Brings Life

Why would I say that? Because from my experience and observation, inspiration flourishes when one is centered.
Don’t believe me? This is what I see...

@awakentolife finds his center from sunrise and sunset. Most of his most inspirational posts usually come out when his soul is quiet at a beautiful sunrise / sunset. The creativity and what flows out from his heart is so uplifting. At least this is what I can feel it when I read his work.

@Heart-to-heart finds her center from making good vegan food, or attending to her garden, I know that because when she speaks about it her eyes lights up and how she writes about her culinary discovery is even livelier than her entertaining adventures of her life. I can tell when she had a really great day with her garden and when she returns to her laptop, that flow comes out differently.

(Do click on the word source; it will lead you to their post I delighted to read)

When everything comes to a single fold of concentrated light.

Staying center, in my experience and my observation, is when your mind is so focus, your mind is quiet, so quiet you find that voice deep inside you could speaks to you.

It is not emptying your mind.

It is silencing the noise when you are focused. To the dot.

* * *

What about me?

My center; is God.

Wait, a minute, that’s not God...

That’s just freaking gardening! (some might reacted that way)

It is, when I find Him in the midst of it so focused till He speaks from deep inside of me.

Recently I found so many revelations whenever I work my hands on the earth, especially not for the sake of fulfilling a day’s wage. Everything I touch He teaches what I have read from the Bible. He made the Word make sense. And 100% of the time, it is never condemnation on me. Even though sometimes it is chastising, He speaks with the most loving and caring way to the point I know I am loved.

Even when to others, it is a waste of time; to me, it is a quality time well spent, because it lightens my heart and brightens my view in life.

And that, my dear friends, is how I find my center these days.

Because a centered person is a person who is at peace and in peace.

And when you are centered, nothing is impossible. Just like the infinity spinning top.

How do you find your center? Do the examples give you some ideas in how you journey out to find your center?

If you are not certain, write down some of the things you usually do, which are giving you energy, and which are draining you. Compare them and see if the things you are doing is draining you or uplifting you.

One more thing

Depression and suicidal thoughts are noises that will distract you from finding your center. Even complying to please people’s needs can become a noise in your life.

And for those who are fighting so hard to be seen ...
Remember you are never an invisible being because you are loved from the day you are formed in your mother’s womb. Nothing is ever an accident. The fact that you are still standing and breathing is a miracle itself.

PS: Being centered and being self-centered is totally 2 different things. One is the positive light that gives life, and one is negative force of destruction.

Thank you for your time

I'd just like to add that there is also a possibility when: "One man’s poison is another man’s food." Somehow, I kinda like that vice versa version more as it sounds more like: "One man's trash is another man's treasure." 😉😊

I know it might be hard for us to switch in that direction or even see such possibility, especially when we are overwhelmed from all sides and when our schedule is overbooked (even with best possible things), but still somewhat draining our energy and time that makes the lavatory almost the only place where we could intimately meet with ourselves (somewhat).
Sounds crazy and funny, but unfortunately it's true sometimes.

LOL but the later quote is not fining much purposes for mine because what I was shoved to (for the solution to re-center myself) out of good intention almost caused a good friendship to fall apart.

I am trying to quiet down and not to overbook myself, but when things are too slow back here in KL I tend to go really lazy lol... that isn't too good either.

lol... speaking of lavatory.... mine was too, but then I used to end up falling asleep if there's a bath tub.

Thank you so much for sharing your insight of your quiet time @ana-maria!

Oh no! The dreaded comment loss just happened to me... I'll start over again!

Jessica, this means so much to me that you've included me in this post and I am so honoured to be mentioned here in this spiritual, meaningful way!

My heart burst with happiness when I read this, I feel like you can see into my soul and are so intimately connected with me as you speak such incredible truth of what is dear to me.

I am so proud of you for taking time to center, figure out your own wants and needs and not give into everyone else. I know you were feeling pressured and overburdened but I am so happy to hear that you've taken time to zone in and recover what's important to you- that will bring the most joy!

<3 I am sending you my thoughts (you're not too far away so they shouldn't take too long to get to you ;)) I think this message is very important for people to hear as this platform can be incredibly draining when we are all "trying too hard!"

It's with ease, flow, trust and love that we will find what we are after! Thank you for being a reminder of this <3

Aw you are always so sweet with your comments @heart-to-heart ! And I am so sorry that your first comment was lost!
Sometimes it take a while to recenter our lives when we allow busy schedules to throw us out of balance. And I am right now just enjoying, and finally reading in steemit with my cup of herbal tea and leave my mind calm from all the noises in the world.
My thoughts and prayers are with you too! Buzz me when you are back in KL with your grocery roster. We'll chill if I am in town!

It's OK, it must have wanted to go somewhere else and enforce me to say what I ended up saying to you instead ;)

Yes, you're right, we are too busy all of the time and recentering is so important to get back on track so love to hear you taking your time with your tea 🤗

I'm not sure what's going to happen with travel with this volcano so I will have to see how that all turns out but right now I am scheduled to fly into KL end of Oct but only briefly for my connection.

Hopefully we will meet again soon, it was so fun last time! I need some specialty items that I have already gone through since last time ;) I didn't stock up enough LOL 😘

From the grind of the day to day we occasionally find ourselves unbalanced and neglecting a pat of our life. Coming back to center is always important.

That is so true. And it becomes so liberating after re-centering. We need to do that more often!

When I need my calm I turn to God also. I like to read Footprints and remember that He will not give us more than we can handle #theunmentionables.

That is true in so many ways @hopehuggs, and recently He gave me enough trials to actually have a deeper revelation in life. It's always a learning curve with Him. And He will always ever so patient to show us the way so that we will live in the life He hopes us to have, just like every loving parent has for the child

Thank you so much for making time and sharing your revelation!

Its really important for us to find our inner peace, or center as you call it. Everyone has their own way of achieving it and there is no right or wrong way. For me I love to go down to the beach at night and just watch/listen to the waves coming ashore. Like you said a centered person is at peace, I think for us to be able to help others, we must first take care of ourselves

You are so blessed to have a beach to go to.... Malaysia beaches close to my city stinks... lol....

So even the calm waves can't help the fainting stench that will eventually distract me more. I have to resolve to vacations only. haha.

And yes, we need to be able to take care ourselves so that we can be able to be there for others. Totally agree with that @jasonshick

Thank you for sharing your kind of "centering"

Have you traveled out of the city much Jessicca? I've been to Palawan and langkawi before and they are both relatively quiet places with beautiful beaches

Not much lately. After I returned from Europe I didn't go out much as I was helping my parents to settle medical bills and there are just too many things to settle than to book a flight and get out for a few days.

Right now, my "temporary solution" is attending to my little messy plot and that helps because I am totally away from the computer and even humans (which can be very tiring as you have seen in my post) and just go on my pace little by little. That helps a lot.

For Peninsular Malaysia, I would recommend Perhentian, even Pangkor Island is good. I used to go to the sea side with my parents, and we just had a small picnic there and listen to the waves and burying our feet deep in the sand. That was my centering with them. I am planning to do that with them again when the school holidays starts.

I have heard of Palawan too. I am praying hard and waiting for my partner to come home safely then we can have some quiet moment together.

Thank you so much for the recommendation @jasonshick !
