Job searching

in #life4 years ago

The hunt for a second and third job continues.

I plan on applying for this a cashiers position that is available at the Speedway gas-station and then a part-time job at my campus bookstore. The current job I have is not hard, and I don’t hate it by any means but it’s not a steady income to have a paycheck come in every week. I’m just hoping to make enough to pay rent and phone bill each month at this point because I need to get my own place or I’m going to lose my mind.

So far this month, I will have made $590 and rent at my future apartment is going to be around $450-550 per month. Then I would need enough to buy food, pay my phone bill and pay for classes and gas to get to and from class.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to make some extra money that would be very much appreciated and I would love you.

My dad thinks I have no work ethic and that I need to get a “real job” but this is a real job and I am searching for other work too. But since this is not an 8-5 job in which I do back-breaking labor the entire time or brings in a paycheck every single week then it’s “not a real job”.

My sister thinks the same thing. That since I’m 21 and can’t drive (due to medical reasons) and that I am still forced to live at home because my college does not provide on-campus housing and I don’t have the money currently then I’m not a “real adult”. A few weeks ago I had made a joking post on Facebook about having someone buy me this beautiful set of collector’s editions of Fitzgerald’s work in hardback, because I didn’t really receive anything besides something from my now-ex. My sister, who lives 7 hours away and never talks to me decide to comment on my post by say: “Have you been looking for a JOB?!?! Have your own money? Buy your own things? How you gonna be a roommate with no JOB?”

She lives 7 hours away never asks me how I am or anything, assumes I don’t work and when goes off on me for supposedly not having a job...I only responded with “I have a job, I’m looking for a second one.”

Everyone adults in different ways and progressive at different rates, which is something that needs to be realized more and accepted.
