This photo was taken in what used to be one of the busiest Caracas malls until the economy started to recede, now it's mostly empty hallways and closed shops.

Sorry, venezuela is going through all this now.

It's a pretty bad situation, most of my friends have already left the country and the few that remains have plans to leave... I also have plans to leave, everyone is leaving.

"The last one to leave Venezuela may turn off the lights"
This is a common saying from here, it is very sad to hear...

When and where did it start? where is the Caracas Mall?

Around 2012, the mall is in the East of the city, the "wealthiest" side of the city.

I was there a week ago; It is incredibly sad to see how the falling economic situation of Venezuela (A result of the political idiocy of the dictator Nicolas Maduro) has pushed a lot of big and successful business into bankruptcy.
I really hope that one day, Venezuela will be able to shine brightly once again.

Ojala y pronto todo acabe y Venezuela pueda ser la misma de antes.

Reminds me of the Woodville Mall

Circumstances in Toledo and Caracas differ greatly, needless to say, but can't help but feel there are a few subtle similarities between our respective malls and their downfall.

Your country is going through some really rough times. I know everyone is trying to leave and have a better chance. I wonder what will happen to those who won't have the possibility to leave the country...
