The 5 most beautiful landscapes in Germany part-2
There are plenty of beautiful places in Germany - from Rügen to Saxon Switzerland to the Alps. The varied nature of meter-high rock formations, lush green landscapes, white seemingly endless cliffs or unbelievable deep-blue lakes not only inspires visitors in this country, but from all over the world.
This will be the second part of 4 episodes.
1. Bastei, Sächsische Schweiz, Sachsen
The bastion is an impressive sandstone formation and a natural monument. If you want to go there off the beaten track through the Saxon Switzerland, then you should choose the path through the Hellmouth. Off the marked trail, an old path leads down rock steps into the gorge, which is framed by huge sandstone cliffs and rich vegetation. Past the Steinernen Bären you can then return to the trail and enjoy the magnificent view from the Bastei across the Elbe Valley.
2. Naturpark Hohes Venn-Eifel, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Belgien
On the German-Belgian border is the unique natural park High Venn-Eifel. The area of almost 3,000 square kilometers offers a variety of natural worlds, which are characterized by raised and peat bogs, heathlands, forests, rivers and lakes and extend over different altitudes. There are also more than 100 castles, palaces and monasteries. Medieval half-timbered towns like Monschau are also worth a visit; There you can then fortify yourself again with hearty food or sweet Monschauer Dütchen (a specialty of the city from light egg biscuit).
3. Nationalpark Hainich, Thüringen
The Hainich is the largest contiguous deciduous forest area in Germany and belongs since 2011 to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. On the surface of the national park, nature is largely left to its own devices, so a jungle awaits you here in the middle of Germany. Absolute highlights are the treetop path, which offers wonderful views over inaccessible parts of the forest, as well as the special fauna (with wild cats!). For a truly memorable stay, visit the Hainich in spring - a flower spectacle that seems to come from a fairy tale awaits you.
4. Wurzacher Ried, Allgäu, Baden-Württemberg
If you hear Allgäu, think of the Alps, the lush meadows of the foothills of the Alps, and the world-famous castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, which attract tourists all year round. But in the region there are also calmer, equally attractive areas, such as the Wurzacher Ried in the district of Ravensburg. Here visitors will find an immediate closeness to nature and paradisiacal tranquility. In addition, there are varied landscapes, the oldest mud spa in Baden-Württemberg and the clear waters of the Haidgau spring lakes, which incidentally have the same temperature of about 15 ° C throughout the year.
5. Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
Forest and beach do not go together? In the northeast of Germany already! The Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park is a truly unique stretch of land with dunes, cliffs, lagoons and windswept trees. The whole area looks like something from another world, and with a bit of luck, you can find seals as well as deer and deer here. Incidentally, the name comes from the so-called 'Bodden' - separated from the Baltic bays, which can be partially explored by boat.

Growing up in Saxony, I've been several times at Saxon Switzerland, really love this area and the view from the Bastei is amazing!
Never before heard of the Wurzacher Ried but this seems to be worth to visit one day. As well as the Hainich. This is already on my agenda! ;)
