Mommy's Morning Madness

in #life8 years ago (edited)

Ever felt like the world is against you every morning? Wishing your alarm clock's battery would die during the night? Is a hot cup of coffee, no husband or kids, something you desire? You're not the only one... I consider Morning Madness as an efficient way to kickoff your day Mom! What is a morning without it anyway?

I am amazed that my mom isn't an alcoholic yet. With 4 kids, a stubborn husband and 3 cheeky dogs, who wouldn't be? This is how a day goes in The Pretorius's House...

6:00 am, mommy's alarm goes off, eyes opening rapidly, trying to prepare herself for the day. Getting out of bed is a challenge knowing what she's got to deal with next. She purposely goes down the stairs stomping her feet to let the kids know she's coming. I'm first up, opening the door, the only one responding is Chino, the dog. She switches on the light knowing I hate it first thing in the morning. Supposedly, it is the only way I wake up. Dylan is next. Again, Misty is the only reaction she receives. Now Dylan is a mommy's boy, so he gets kissed till he wakes up. Mia is up already when mom gets there, singing her way out of bed. It's 6:16 am already. Sven is up, but 90% of him is still fast asleep.

This is her only alone time, filling the lunchboxes while everyone gets dressed (hopefully they actually are). First to enter the kitchen is Dylan, mommy gets another kiss. Off to the cereal he goes. Mia arrives, singing as she hasn't stopped. "Morning Mommy", she sings. "Get dressed please", mom says. Mia disappears to her room. Next up is Sven , he appears without shoes and an untidy collar. "Morning Sven", mom says sarcastically. "Oh, morning mom", he replies whilst making him cereal. And then myself, with the inability to be quick, enters the kitchen last. Just gets a banana and disappears again.

6:30 am, almost time to leave. Mom decides to check up on Mia as she is awfully quiet. As she reaches her room, Mia still hasn't dressed and she is busy playing guitar.  Trying to keep her composure Mom asks Mia politely to get ready for school. Dylan and Sven are both in the living room waiting to go to school. I still haven't been seen again. So Mom decides to just check up on me. There I am, still washing my face.

After this rough morning, which still isn't over, Mom tries to drink a cup of coffee before leaving for gym. Mia barges in the kitchen, at least she is dressed by now. Mia is ready for school as soon as mom succeeded in brushing her hair. Dylan and Sven is in the car already, Mia is being begged at by my Dad to please go brush her teeth now. That cup of coffee is waiting to be finished, but has been forgotten.

6:25 am,finally everyone is in the car, talking at the same time. Mom is already late for her gym class as usual. Dad is ready for his meeting, all the kids are ready for school. The madness is over... Until school comes out!

Just imagine a day without a family like this. Seems dull right? Appreciate your mom everyday, because dad's won't ever cope with this!

I hope all of the moms reading this gets spoilt rotten by their kids and husband Sunday.

Thanks for reading!

Great story! Moms have a lot to do, for sure. We should show them love every day, and especially on Mother's Day. Thanks for sharing some insight into your family's morning routine!

For sure! My pleasure. Thanks for reading.

I am a mom with four kids too! Crazy and blessed and in need of a break! Haha

That's what my mom says too!

Very good story!! What moms need after all? Not much, give them love and respect back (as the payment of interest what we all owe to moms). Great post @megan35.

Good post Meg! Thank you for posting again. I wanted to chat to you in class, but time ran out. Just continue writing. You need to post as much as possible for better exposure.
