Farmers, Fishermen and Children consistently posted the highest poverty incidence among basic sectors - According to Philippine Statistical Authority
Poverty is not a new thing anymore in the society but, the will to survive is the real deal. According to the Philippine Statistic Authority releases its latest report on the country's official poverty statistics for the basic sectors for 2015. The result of the report of the PSA shows that there are three consistently registered sectors that is much affected of the poverty incidences since 2006, and these are the Farmers, Fishermen, Children.
According to FAO, As most poor people live in rural areas of developing countries and are dependent on agriculture for their livelihood, the key to eradicating current suffering must lie in the creation of dynamic rural communities founded upon prosperous farming.
As stated, most people live in the rural areas and these people are the farmers and the fishermen who are dependently relying on agriculture and fishing for their livelihood, but of course they cannot rely on their livelihood forever as the occurrence of the climate change is at high risk for everybody but most especially for the people who lives in the rural areas. And those children of the farmers and fishermen is also affected of poverty.
To somehow help the farmers and fishermen from the poverty, government should at least give them alternative livelihood, re-educate them on the system or technique they used for the living. And assessment should be done also to monitor their performance with the new project for their alternative livelihood so they can also feel that they are important, that they are also part of the growing society. Because without them, how can we eat and buy our fish and rice to served in our tables.
We have to rethink and re-educate ourselves, do not blame the society or the government why we are experiencing poverty. We people are the cancer of the society, we create the poverty because of the power, greediness, wealth that we aim makes us poor as a human.
