My introduction - Time is the difference

in #life7 years ago

My name is Udoh, Nsikan Melvin, i am from Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, born in Warri, Delta state. I was introduced to steemit by @tallbrownboi this year 2018, even though i heard of steemit since last year 2017 from some other friends on facebook, i just didnt find the interest to join. Suddenly @tallbrownboi pops out on our whatsapp group and starts selling the idea to us, then there is this sudden interest; i longed to join steemit upon reading his messages and seeing him talk about it so heartily. I wondered why i didnt pay somuch attention to my other friends on facebook... I guess time is the difference... Or maybe @tallbrownboi is the difference after all. He's got good marketing skills by the way.
But thats not the actual lesson for today. What made me choose the topic is that i know there are other new steemians like myself who would be feeling left behind when you see how far other steemians must have gone, and probably how much they have made, and you wish you had joined earlier, you wonder how long it will take you to start getting something positive out of this (i regret not joining earlier though). But my dear time does the magic; give it time and you will realize that you actually joined at the right time... Yes, i dont believe anybody or anything is late, i believe its just the best time and no other time would be better for it. I will give two examples to drive home my point;
I left secondary school at the age of 17, but i didnt gain admission to the university till i was 26. But here is the thing... I left secondary school with only one credit in English Language from my first WAEC result (i failed the rest of the subjects). I had to write two more WAECs to be able to gather all the credits i needed to go through my university education, but i finished my university education some years later with a second class upper (4.25 CGPA), and without failing any course. Now i see that i wasnt late, but God made it possible that i go through school at the right time when i would be more focused and ready to study, instead of going through it with tge carefree mindset i had left secondary school with. Certainly, i have friends who finished school earlier, but today it seems like they never went to school, because their certificate is not presentable.
Second example is the story of a doctor in warri who bought 7 acres of land from a community called Ubeji, then during tge warri crisis he had to run with his family to the US. When he returned, he discovered that the community had started selling parts of the land to other buyers, he approached them and they said it was his fault, that he left the land bare, they were hungry, so they sold it. Along the line, the doctor who happened to be a pastor at this time took the matter to the court, after 8years and 4 different judges overseeing the case, he won. But they took him to the appeal court, where he won again after another 8 years. So they dragged him to the supreme court, where he won them finally after 6 years. Do the count and you will see that the doctor got his land back after 22 long years. But at this time the land has already been developed by the people who bought it, to the extent that it is referred to as Ubeji Estate (some call it the GRA of Ubeji), with the land covered with mansions, various storeys of buildings, duplexes, exotic bungalors, schools etc... Now, think about it, if he won the land back 22 years ago, it would have been bare land. But he had to wait for a whole 22 years to get his land back. But he got way more than his land could have ever been...
We are never late new steemians... Time is just the difference, we will get there.
