One more day with doggy friend. Dealing with the pigeons.

in #life5 years ago

First of all, I miscounted in my first post about the dog. I said it was 5 days and 4 nights. It's actually 6 days and 5 nights. She leaves tomorrow.

So those of you commenting that it's a solid chunk of revenue, remember to do the arithmetic and divide accordingly.

Doggy's smile frequency has dropped just a tad. She's still always smiling. She's great. Just more in the range of what you'd expect from a super smiley happy dog who was born on this planet, and less out of this world "how is this even real?" sort of thing.

I think the first day or two was just extra exciting to her.

All that's really on my mind right now is the pigeons. It's actually similar to the problem George Costanza ran into in the '90s. When I'm walking dog, they don't move out of our way with any sense of urgency.

She sees them and pulls and it's a struggle. I hold her, and they stay. So she's still pulling and reaching. We walk towards them and they waddle carelessly. So she's still pulling and reaching.

Turning around is annoying, because she'll resist and keep looking back. I'd rather they fly away. That should be the deal. I'll hold her back, you fly away.

Fine. Let's charge at them. That'll teach 'em! (That's the only way out of this.) But they still did the bare minimum. Some waddled left and others more to the right, and we didn't get the experience of making them flock off in a big kaboom like I was hoping for.

The pigeons are too good.

People worry about AI sometimes. I worry about how good the pigeons would get if AI doesn't come around and train them and get them out of here.
