Striving for perfection, aiming at humanity

in #life6 years ago

Wake up, brush your teeth, get dressed, have breakfast and go! You know the drill. But there are some, who do their work at their home office, trapped by the comfort of their often counterproductive space. Writers are one of those people. They require self-discipline. And that is a challenge! Especially for those of us that have a mind of their own, one that tends to wander. The continuous battle between focus and the familiar land of a scattered mind, comfort and hardship, strength and weakness. Sounds familiar? Welcome to the human family - those blessed with a conscious mind!

Your blessing shall be your curse.

Strive for self-discipline, "the practice to obey rules or a code of behaviour, using punishment to correct disobedience." It sounds dreadful, doesn't it? You'd like to think your life can reach beyond that, wouldn't you? And so our inner voice struggles between what we want and what we should do. When the two are in harmony, we feel momentarily happy, but when imbalanced, problems arise.

Where do the boundaries of a balanced life lie? Can there be a joy in a scheduled life? I do not know any Olympic athlete to get an answer, but I know one thing, it is very individual. What is right for me is not necessarily right for you. Although our brains are same, our minds are very different, and then, of course, we have our own environments, our bodies that work on an individually set body clock.

Scientists brought this to our attention with working-environments and school-schedules modified according to these new observations. But then there we are still, writers, and independent researchers - isolated in a capsule of stillness where time flies. What a paradox.

So what do we do? We struggle in our lengthy battles. Sometimes, we are winning, but most of the time it feels like we are losing. One thing is sure; we are nowhere near the end if there is such a thing. Because when we are not in the battle, we are in between fights with the intention to win the war. And for us, the war will never end. But, keep your head up, you are not alone, and you are getting better at the game one step at the time!
