MOT • Personal Growth #3: 3 Ways To Live Your Life
Hi Steemians, great that you are here!
Welcome to part two of this Life Management Seminar based on the sermon on the mount. Today we will look into one of the most misunderstood attitudes - being meek.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. (Matthew 5:5-5:5)
Why is being meek so often misunderstood? Because we don't understand the true meaning of it, but rather understand it as being weak. But that's a pure misinterpretation. Often we also understand it as being gentle, which gets translated into "intentional mildness", but that's also not right. Finally, it's definitely not about being nice and swallowing your anger and real feelings.
Meek means power under control
Imagine a dam holding its water and controlling this power to provide the resource of life for a city. Imagine a rocket with it's engines and the immense, explosive power to propel it up into space without destroying itself. That's power under control. That's what being meek means. You are powerful. God gave you power. You have power in your words, in your relationships, in your actions, in your habits.
But what happens if this power gets out of control? It will destroy you.
There are three ways how you can live your life:
The Out Of Control Life: anger, being undisciplined, destructive power
The In Control Life: trying to keep everything organized, calm, regulated
The Under Gods Control Life: that's the actual way how God made us to live our life. That's a different kind of power, a different kind of life.
So here are three real power exercises for your everyday life:
When you're confronted, choose to love. Watch what happens when someone pushes your buttons and you reply with love - you'll be surprised. Why is this "being under Gods control"? Because it's not about getting out of this situation without freaking out, but you ask for Gods control, which is love.
When you're neglected, encourage! The normal reaction would be to say "ok, I'm out of here", or you would try to put yourself right in the center of the circle to grab the attention. But real power in this situation is to look for others who feel neglected as well and to encourage them! That's in general the right move: when you feel discouraged, look for others to encourage them!
When you're rejected, forgive! This is a real key to live the life God has planned for us.
Where do you find the power to do all this? By remembering what Jesus has done for you. Remember that you have been forgiven. Every time you feel bitterness, remember Jesus on the cross dying for you.
I wish you a wonderful week.
Thanks so much!
