This is why it's important to have a TRUSTLESS financial system

in #life7 years ago

In today's society we've been trained since childhood to put our trust in a bunch of authority figures and institutions without even so much as giving it a second thought. There are, however, constant reminders that it's not smart to do that, especially when it has to do with your finances.

Case in point, this news that are doing the rounds today. It's about a homeless man that, trusting his bank and therefore his bank teller, got robbed of almost $200,000.

How shit is that?

Imagine, you're homeless but still manage to generate some nice income and then you trust it to a bank, which for the longest times we've been conditioned to not even second guess and, bam! you happen to get a teller that is thinking more about his own benefit than yours.

How can somebody actually avoid being scammed by a third party in financial matters? How can you really determine whether a financial institution or even your teller has your best interest in mind. You could and SHOULD do your due diligence.

However, even if a financial institution passes with flying colors, because they're run by humans, and humans cannot be trusted 100%, you have no way of knowing what's gonna happen.

So, in the end, you just have to trust them.

Or do you?

Even the Bible very clearly states that one should not put his trust in human beings...

It might seem to be kind of complicated, but it doesn't have to be, not anymore if you have the right technology.

Maybe we should start trusting computer code a bit more, as in blockchain code that has been programmed to be trustless and still provide full service.

But what does it really mean to be trustless?

It means that you don't need a third party to transfer money from one person to another. It also means that you are responsible for safekeeping your money yourself.

It's like what our grandparents used to do when they showed their distrust to the banking system by keeping their money under the mattress or in a can in some shelf.

Human beings won't change! We've always intrinsically understood that we can't trust other humans but ourselves, but we've been brainwashed into acting in a different way.

Blockchain technology today allows us to go back to the basics in a more effective way and put into practice what even the Bible thousands of years ago said: "Don't put your trust in humans!"
