The Power Of Friendship; How Do You Pick The Right Ones For You?

It's said that if you practice a thing for about 10,000 hours, you'd become a pro at it. Well for over two decades I've tried and I still haven't gotten the perfect definition of what or who a true friend is. It's more like I have really been so unlucky in this aspect and it hurts.

So it's either my "magnet" is faulty or things don't work that way anymore.

Never in life have I painted myself to be a saint or better than others. Neither have I ever put myself in a high pedestal and belittled those below me.

Even if I was so good that the blind could see it and the deaf hear it that I am better than others, I never/won't for once make others feel bad. I'd instead just do all I can to make the person be a better person.

Don't mean to blow my own trumpet but yeah i'm that kind of person.

But what have I gotten in return?

Nothing short of fake love. I have been stabbed so many times, the scars are countless.

It feels tiring to share my dreams and aspirations with people I consider my friends only to turn my back and be mocked and laughed at.

Sigh.

Fake friends don't know how to sympathize with a friend's success. There's no way to pretend through this phase. It's a very difficult thing to do and the truth always comes out eventually.

Despite all these negative vibes, I am still me! I wont change for anyone. Just the way gold and diamond pass through rigorous refining and comes out defined, I am optimistic I'd have the same outcome.

Because I have been there and I know how it feels, I would never take my real friends for granted. This is why I take my time always to reciprocate the love, care, and attention while also appreciating them.
