Our Young Black Girls

in #life6 years ago

It's not like our young girls are "Marriage-Hungry" The truth is deep-down, beneath their subconscious they are "Suceess-Hungry". Marrying that tall, dark, Chevron manager is no doubt the fastest route to success-city and again it's the only route the society showed them.

She's 24, she's now a graduate; so what's she waiting for? She's achieved the one and only goal she had in life - one influenced by societal culture and pride - (School). She has no more set goals to pursue, nor dreams to materialise, nor talent to cultivate. The next thing on the list is sure, Marriage! The greatest achievement for her at this point.

But can you blame this poor girls? Our today's society has made it this way, we're too busy pressuring our daughters to meet other people's timeline, we've indirectly made them think themselves as inferiors, we've glued their potentials to the suit of a man, we've taught them all their lives that after school, Obi should go find a work, while Uju go finds a husband, we've taught them that Tunde would build mama a house while Fumi bears her grandchildren.

Unless this poor orientation is discarded, we'll keep raising pests called "runs babes" that knows no other way to survive but to trade their flesh. Unless this poor orientation is discarded, we'll keep raising boyfriends that thinks all girls are "bitches" and should be treated as garbage. Unless this poor orientation is discarded, we'll keep raising husbands who disrespects women. Unless this poor orientation is discarded, we'll keep having failed marriages and badly trained kids because this bonds were never true from the unset, their motives were selfish. Unless this poor orientation is discarded, the untapped potentials of our young ladies would follow them to the grave.

Sista, your worth supersedes baby sitting and sex;
a crown awaits you at the vertex.

Why be a wife to a Chevron manager who disrespects your person, when you can own Chevron yourself?

Just HUSTLE, I mean "Legit Hustle".
