The normal human body temperature is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit (about 37 degrees Celsius). Our body temperature can generally fluctuate between 97 and 99 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the day. A fever of 104 degrees Fahrenheit is not uncommon.

Heat is constantly being generated inside the body to maintain the normal functioning of our body. As such, it can be said that the human body is actually a heat generating machine. This heat causes our body temperature to fluctuate. Generally, the ambient temperature is 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit), which is comfortable for our body. But if the temperature increases or decreases than this, the body feels hot or cold. When the body temperature is higher than the surrounding environment, it feels cold. Again, if the body temperature is lower than the environment, it feels hot. That's why when we have a fever, our body temperature rises, we feel cold. When the fever subsides, the body becomes hot and sweaty.

Again, doing any physical work increases the body temperature. But it still feels hot. Because work increases the work of body cells. As a result, excess heat is generated in the body. We sweat to get rid of this extra heat from the body. It is actually a natural mechanism to keep our body cool.
