Hi, my name is Natalie and I first fell in love with my boyfriend in 2008. That is us on a date in 2018 in the picture. Recently we were introduced to a life-changing acupuncturist who has helped with Alex's epilepsy. Before meeting him, Alex was having 1-3 partial onset seizures a day, and 3-5 grand mal seizures a month.

He started having seizures in 2012, the day after his 23rd birthday. The first seizure he had was a grand mal seizure that nearly took his life. He was in the hospital for two weeks and finally was discharged with the diagnosis of epilepsy and was given several prescriptions for medications to stop his seizures.

On Thanksgiving 2019, after coming home from work, Alex had a grand mal seizure. He bit his tongue severely. Since that grand mal seizure in November of 2019, the number and intensity of his seizures increased a lot.

This increase in his seizures was first addressed by his doctor who increased his dosage of Lamictal and referred him to a neurologist in January. The neurologist again increased his dosage of Lamictal to taking the maximum levels she could prescribe, as well as introducing Vimpat in order to help treat his seizures. Even with the increased medication, he still was having several seizures a day, and having great pain as a result. He continued to bite his tongue when seizing and became emotionally and physically exhausted.

At this time, I was so distraught I pleaded with anyone who would listen. Please, please help my boyfriend, he is sick, but I KNOW there has got to be a doctor somewhere that can help him.

Alex found an acupuncturist who had experience treating seizures who came highly recommended. The acupuncturist is not covered by insurance; but this recommendation provided a glimmer of hope for us-- that maybe someone could help stop the seizures, or at least get them to happen less often. This acupuncturist offered us a book to study during this process, which has been very beneficial. Here is a link:

The intake screening happened 3 times over the course of a week. The first day, the results were already noticeable. In the week period of time since that the initial acupuncture treatment has occurred, he had only 1 seizure. This is the first time that it has been more than a day since his last seizure since before Thanksgiving 2019.

The acupuncturist assessed that the state of Alex’s condition had progressed to the point where his health is 30% of what it should be. The acupuncturist says he is responding very well to the treatment. He said that if Alex does a year of acupuncture, his health will progress significantly, and we believe him because we have noticed the effects already from just 3 acupuncture treatments.

The insurance will not cover the cost of the year long treatment, but this moment of the possibility of finding healing for Alex has been such a source of optimism and a breath of fresh air for us. We are asking for $11,259, so Alex can complete the 12-month acupuncture program. This includes 35 acupuncture sessions $165.00 each totaling $5,775, 24 Auricular Therapy sessions at $65.00 each totaling $1,560, Personalized Chinese Herbs/Teas for his condition at $5,500 for a 12-month supply, 14 diagnosis and consultation sessions at $80.00 each totaling $1,120.00. This 1-year treatment totals $13,955 but the acupuncturist has generously offered Alex a 30% discount on the acupuncture and auricular therapies, bringing his total bill down to $11,754. We paid the $495 for him to be initially seen by the acupuncturist – just to find out if he would take Alex on as a client, but the effects of the initial treatment will only last for a period of time. If we wait too long to pay for the year-long acupuncture treatment plan, then he will have to start from the beginning all over again.

The three-day intake session was used in order to determine if acupuncture treatment is working. Because the acupuncturist says there has been good results, he feels confident in his chances for recovery and will accept Alex’s case. James recommends that the treatment begin as soon as possible after the initial acupuncture treatments, because the effects of the acupuncture have already begun. It is for this reason that there is an urgency to our request.

Please help us in any way you can! I am so grateful for any help we can get, I want so desperately to be able to provide an end to Alex's seizures to him, and we have finally found a way, but we need your help to pay for it. Already, after having gone a week without the acupuncture treatment-- today Alex had 2 seizures. Please help him! The acupuncture therapy has been so effective, it is beyond a tragedy that we know it works, where to find it, but we cannot afford to pay for it. If you can donate, upvote, resteem, and communicate with your social media following to please help us-- it could change our lives! Thank you for taking time to read our plea.
