They Are Humans

  • These societies are not entirely subjugated to oppression. According to the book "Social Underdevelopment, An Introduction To The Psychology Of The Oppressed Man" for  Higazy; oppressed masses may live long in submission. But it moves them to the stage of persecution and then rebellion and revolution. Repressed societies are not static but they are moving towards salvation.
  •   These three stages (Surrendering / persecution / rebellion) are the psychological characteristics of backward peoples, and their effects can be seen clearly in the interrelationship between the oppressor and the oppressed.

  1) the stage of oppression and surrender;

  •   This stage phase is relatively longer between the rest of the stages. It represents the base in which the backward society loses its humanity in exchange for the rise of the tyrant forces and their glow; here you see the value of human collapses and the masses fail to respond and resist. The humiliation are the inherent nature of these masses. Especially that the authoritarian forces are striving to promote this idea, and cut the way to any hope of the attempts of individual rebellion.
  •   One of the psychological characteristics of the underdeveloped person at this stage (self-delusion). He feels inferiority and contempt for himself and his society,so he tends to take revenge on them and accept the oppression of the ruler as punishment for himself. As a result, suicides start increasing and neglect start leading to death or injury. But the most important psychological characteristics of this stage is the admiration of the authoritarian and surrenders to him ,so he starts taking an image of him as if he was the superhuman who has the right of semi-divine in controling and enjoying all privileges. Under this apparent submission lies a subtle, self-effacing hostility in the attempt to deceive, mislead and exploit the ruler indirectly. So, the slogan of this stage is a lie between the oppressor and the oppressed.

    2) the stage of persecution  ;

  •   Despite the overlap of the three stages, the stage of persecution emerges as a general trend in society, without being equal to the oppressive tendencies of all members of society. The stage of persecution reveals a boiling point within the oppressed human being; so, the tricks of bowing that he used to practice are no longer the required psychological security. Because human can not bear self-contempt forever. One must feel pride, dignity and self-esteem in himself and his community.
  •   Since the authoritarian society suffocates every way by feeling human self-esteem,  the oppressed is looking for a mistake to make him aggressive. It is a weaker ring, can be faulted and unloads anger shipments. He is looking for a pendulum to comment on his failure, helplessness and backwardness. Here aggression turns to peers and peers and followers such as wife and children, and many cases of murder start growing up for simple reasons.

3) the stage of rebellion and confrontation;

  •   The underdeveloped society inevitably comes to violence at some stage of its development as a result of the prevalence of oppressive relations. It is directed towards those responsible for oppression, whether they are foreign occupiers or local despots. When the experience of bowing to the oppressor and internal violence fail to achieve the psychological security of the oppressed person, he resorts to exchange a cruelty by violence. This is called “critical reaction”, which is the choice of society between annihilation and confrontation. The moment the oppressed human takes the option of confrontation, he has to reach the critical stage. And that is the challenge of death, which, if he passed it, he has internalized the internal psychological equation of oppression and defeated himself.
  •   When a group of oppressed society rises up and takes up arms against the despot, many of the psychological characteristics of the pro-resistance class start changing. The node of superiority and arrogance stands instead of the deficiency complex. The self-defense knot replaces the knot of helplessness and surrender, and the feeling of uniqueness and exception replace the lack of prestige. Here a new threat starts inside this mass uprising. That is the lack of intellectual and political frameworks that are directed with this growing sense of greatness, which may make the prevailing armed masses be leaded by their psychological legacies..
