A PLACE IN THE STARS
This short write-up is a true life story. It talks about how African relatives treat their niece or nephew. Some of them do the biddings of their uncles or aunt by going into street hawking, prostitution etc. Enjoy the story and please remember to upvote. Thanks.
Poem:
A heaven full of stars.
Those stars like snow-white
Over my head white an topaz.
And yet with neither love nor hate.
I hope a star would ricochet
And one will fall my way.
Perhaps we are the stars and it lies there on.
The sky's cozy big black blanket not asking us to be anything else.
But exactly who we are - beautiful sparks of human life.
This reminds of a story of a young girl whose dreams if becoming a pilot was dashed. How did it happen?
Its 7am in the morning (alarm buzzing). Abike woke up wearing a smile on her face. She just had a beautiful dream. Her mother was in the kitchen preparing breakfast for herself and her two children. Abike never had the opportunity to see or know who is father is. She was told her father died when she was still a baby.
Mama, she called, I just had a dream. She never hides anything from her mother. Her mother is her best friend and everything in this world to her. Her mother said, Child don't look down on your dreams, believe for there is a place for you in the stars. Like a popular phrase that says "no one knows tomorrow". Abikes mother died a year later of cardiac arrest. Abike's and her brother later went to live with their wicked uncle. Three months of living with his uncle was like three years in hell.
Eventually, she ran away from her uncle's home. She slept in uncompleted buildings and stalls. Few days later, she was raped which later lead to her being pregnant at sixteen. She died at child birth. She lost her life and the life of her child.
