Calgary Stampede

in #life7 years ago

In Canada and especially in Alberta summers are very short. For that reason, every city tries to organize as many outdoor events and festivals as possible. It's too many of them to name them but one is the biggest and most important.

And that is Calgary Stampede. I attended one of them a few years ago.

We're talking about history here. Or maybe I should say tradition. Canada celebrated 150 anniversary this year and it's not so old compared to other countries around the world.

Traditional and modern. Which one is more attractive? It's your choice.

This is history, if you ask me?

And this is tradition.

And behind this wall. The Games.

But not today. Maybe tomorrow.

And the last one for all proud Canadians, eh?

Thanks for your time. See you.

I was never at the Calgary Stampede. Maybe next year.

Don't worry too much. It's traditional. Every year.

The chuckwagon races can be brutal on the horses. Have seen a few that had to be shot due to broken legs and then dragged off the track. The stands go quiet when that happens. Sad to see. I believe PETA was trying to get the chuckwagons shut down.

I read that on internet news. Even people get killed in motto sports too. This past month the fighter died in boxing match here. I don's see the reason to stop chuckwagons from racing.

I have lived over two decades in Alberta and still haven't made my way over to the Calgary Stampede... Perhaps next year will be the year to do that. This year we went down to Drumheller and that was a lot of adventure packed into a couple hot days! Totally worth seeing all the dinosaur museums. I should put up some photos of that...

That trip is still on my schedule. You make a post about it first!

Certainly! I was born there... so it seems fitting that I share my adventures returning to the place for the first time since then! lol!

Where do you find these Picture worthy places. Love the content

You just need to go around and take a camera with you. Simple as that.
Thanks for stopping by.

I've heard all about this stampede. I can't believe they last like 10 days. A colleague of mine is originally from Canada. I live in Australia. He was telling me how this year is a massive deal because the 150th Canada day. I'd love to travel to Canada one day! Cheers

Thank. I hope one day your wishes come through.

Likewise :)

a wonder full place and his history and all photos are fantastic thanx for sharing with us about this place sir

You're welcome.

I love festivals like this, it's important to celebrate and remember history. Many young people these days know so much about new technology and social network etc but they don't know much at all about their own countries history and their own family history .

You right. Especially in US and Canada. In Europe, history is more important, at least in schools but young people live too fast today and with missing out on nature and real life they really don't know what they're passing by. Thanks for the coment. Saw your necklace and wife. Nice.

Thanks :) appreciate it !

Good revival of festivals and the development of culture and intimidation
I like these principles that eliminate terrorism and develop a sense of patriotism
In short, culture is the foundation of every society

Nice thoughts. Thanks.

The colorful clothing and the teepees. ^_^
First time i have heard such festival. Thank you for enlightening us! :)

It's a big event here in Alberta. Thanks.
