G'day SteemIT

I'm Onthax and I've been hanging around SteemIT following a few friends on the platform and finally decided to jump into the Steem CryptoPool.

I'm an avid gamer, hiker, geek, an adventurer of the physical and digital, love to bury myself in a new game or getting out and hiking a new mountain and catching an epic sunrise and this year I've have been exploring different lifehacks and ways to optimise, improve and develop myself and all aspects of my life.

Which leads to minimalism, over the last few months I've been experimenting with meditation, simplifying my life and came across a documentary from a couple of guys in the US called the Minimalists.

Their M.O is really interesting, get rid of the things in your life that don't add value to give you more space for what's important in your life. It’s a message that really resonates with me, Life gets so full of stuff that sucks up time and headspace, it can be hard to focus on or even find your passion.

November Experiment: The Minimalism game

  1. Find a friend or family member: someone who’s willing to get rid of their excess stuff.

  2. This month, each of you must get rid of one thing on the first day. On the second, two things. Three items on the third. So forth, and so on. Anything can go! Clothes, furniture, electronics, tools, decorations, etc. Donate, sell, or trash. Whatever you do, each material possession must be out of your house—and out of your life—by midnight each day.

It’s an easy game at first. However, it starts getting challenging by week two when you’re both jettisoning more than a dozen items each day. Whoever can keep it going the longest wins; you both win if you can make it all month. Bonus points if you play with more than two people.

Extra rules:

  1. Since I'm off the grid later in the month for a week or so, I'm
going till the 19th November, then continuing around the 1st of
December until either I run out of stuff or finish the challenge.

  2. If possible I'm going to "minimalise" the item by giving it to
charity or Selling it on Gumtree (Aussie Craigslist)

Day 1: Let it Begin
A journey of a thousand items begins with a pair of old socks

Day 2.
More Socks and a 5 litre glass DemiJohn

Feelings:
Excited, been meaning to get rid of these for ages!

Let me know if you've done something similar and what your results were in the comments below or if you want to join in the experiment!

Cheers Cheetah,

Guessing this is for the 2 paragraphs on the game cited at the end.
Any tips for the content bots?
apart from that 1 cited source it's all original content.

Hey @onthax,
Consider using the separate column tool from StackEdit for any content that you post that isn't your own. Its icon is horizontal lines and a triangle on the left side. Also place the link to the post you're using immediately after the quote.

When you use content from a personal blog, website or other non-steemit post consider verifying yourself through the steemit community.

Hey @joshfischbach

Thanks for the tips, will have to keep this in mind in future posts.

Did you verify through steamverify.com ?

I will play along with you this month. I threw out 10 things today to catch up. It actually gave me a very satisfying feeling of control. Will be interesting to see if I can make it to the end of the month!
