DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP

in #life7 years ago

Recently, I encountered a story about a farmer and his neighbor. So, a farmer's horse runs off one day. The farmer's neighbor says bad luck and the farmer replies maybe.

A couple of days later, the horse returns with a new horse, the farmer now has two horses. Neighbor says good luck and the farmer replies maybe.

The following day, the farmer's son takes the new horse out for a ride, as he returns home, he fell off the horse and broke his leg. The farmer's neighbor says bad luck and the farmer replies maybe.

So, a week goes by and the military drives into the farmers village, take all the young capable men to go fight in the war and leaves farmer's son behind. As you will guess, farmer's neighbor says good luck and once again, the farmer replies maybe.

The story can go on and on, but I believe the lesson is quite clear by now, we cannot always predict the outcome of our actions or decisions. Sometimes, all we can do is make the decisions we think best and hope that the outcome goes as expected. Other times, we can only put good and responsible people in decision making positions and hope that whatever they decide for us, ends up well. Sometimes, a simple decision, such as choosing to wear a red shirt over a white one could be all that is needed to start a cascade of events that will change our lives for ever.

Assuming on your way to work this morning, you decided to pick a taxi instead of the bus. But just before you get to your stop, the taxi gets into an accident and you loose the functionality of your legs(God forbid, lol). This is an incident that could change your life forever and yet, there's no way you could have known this forehand. So my point for today's write up is simple, don't beat your self up over what should have been or could have been, just focus on what is and how you can move on from there.

One of my favorite stories. Indeed, we can’t control everything that happens but we can control how we react to it.

Indeed, our reaction is what determines our fate ultimately. Thanks for passing by @indigoocean.

That's why it's said everything happens for a reason and no matter the circumstances we find ourselves in, we should be really grateful, What we might see as a blessing could in fact, be our doomsday. And what we might see as a bad omen, could in fact be the beginning of our well being.
