The joy of being a hospital clown

in #life6 years ago

Hospital clowns :o)

It's nice when we feel good about ourselves, when we give help and support to others without any interest, this is one of the things that has filled me most as a person, and not only for the career I study which is merely humanistic, I'm talking about volunteering in general, I mean to any type of volunteering, which in my case I refer specifically to the volunteering I do with the Doctor Yaso Foundation.

It's been 3 and a half years since I joined to this foundation and I became a hospital clown, 3 and a half years ago, where the mornings of my Saturdays are dedicated to bringing joy to others, especially the children, those tiny people who are in a difficult moment that is being sick.

As the years have passed, it has become increasingly difficult, and that's because the hospital conditions and the availability of medicines and supplies are little more than deplorable, it is extremely painful to see how many children spend months hospitalized waiting for costly exams, waiting for supplies and / or medications that they can't afford even though doctors do everything in their power to help them with what they can and have; But that isn't the point of this publication, I mean, the point is not talking about bad and sad things, the point is to talk about how nice it is to be a hospital clown and how wonderuful is to give them a different moment full of joy and happiness to those children.

Today I decided to share with you a top 5 of my favorite photos of Pandora (my clown name) doing her work every saturday mornings.

Number 5:

In this photo I was playing with Dr. Gochis, Dr. Florencio and Dr. Mima, we were playing being animals, Dr. Mima (the one that is crouched) was a little frog, I wanted to be a Panda bear, and after that I made my interpretation we couldn't stop laughting, and in that moment a friend took this photo.

Number 4:

Here we were playing that Dr. Sol was a villain who had us trapped, then the children were the superheroes who saved us; I remember as one of the children who felt a bit bad when we got to his room he got so excited with this game that he got up from his bed and played as an amazing Superman.

Number 3:

This was the first time I made a triplet with this beautiful couple, Dr. Sol and Dr. Agridulce, both are great friends, beautiful people and great clowns.

Note: when we make the visits to the hospital we divide into pairs or triplets, we're never alone, and there is a person who supervises us and is pending in case of any emergency (if any child is unbalanced or something like that) in the service and we must retire.

Number 2:

This photo was in a color walk race, those where there are several stations and they fill you with colored powders; It was too fun, we laughed a lot. When we took this picture we were doing a dance competition haha and of course my team won.

Number 1:

This for me is a photo with a lot of feeling and of huge significance, they took it just when Dr. Sol asked for marriage to Dr. Agridulce, it was a very beautiful and special moment for everyone. They currently have 3 years of marriage and a beautiful daughter.

One of the things that I am most grateful to have joined in this foundation is the a lot of beautiful people I had the opportunity to meet, people with a heart of gold, and as I said at another time they are my second family.

Plus:

This was after another walk race of our brothers yasos from the city of Puerto Ordaz, known as guayayasos. It was a very nice experience because we had the opportunity to meet many yasos from different cities of the country; That day I finished confirming that all the people who are in this foundation are incredibly noble and beautiful at heart.

If you want to see how is the work we do, I invite you to watch the following video:

Note: it is in spanish, I could't find one in english but "a picture is worth a thousand words".

Well my dear readers, I hope you like this publication, and I want to conclude with:

Although we are going through a very hard time, if each of us help to the others, in some way or another the difference will be made; let's not be conformists, let's not be pessimistic (even if it's very difficult); "After the storm comes the calm", let's help with what we can to those who need it more than we do, don't let bad thoughts consumed you and never stop smiling; now the phrase emblem of the foundation: "Let a smile be your medicine".

PS: all the photos are my property; the video belongs to the Doctor Yaso Foundation.
