Visit Hammam whit me!
However, you have to distinguish between two forms of Hammām: On the one hand the original Hammām and on the other hand the saunas, steam baths and other diverse swimming and spa baths and gyms, which (among other things) also offer a Hammām. The visitor puts on a special towel (Peştemal) as a loincloth. On the walls are sinks with hot and cold water, with which you either overflow yourself regularly, or you can be washed by a "Tellak".
For this purpose, a cotton sack is soaped, filled with air by panning, manually closed and foam from the tissue on the body. During exfoliation, the skin is rubbed under strong pressure by rubbing with the so-called "kese", a rough towel or glove made of wild silk or goat hair.
In addition to cleansing and sweating, the Hammáms also do a lot for beauty care (including medical ... a visit to a Turkish steam bath can increase subjective well-being, counteract muscle tensions and stimulate circulation in the skin...for an extra charge you can get the foam massage... Skin aging is delayed).
The Hammām is an evolution of the Greco-Roman bath. The first Hammāms in the Islamic area were built in the Middle Ages in Jordan.
