Amintore Fanfani

Amintore Fanfani was an Italian politician and economist. He was one of the most important politicians of his country during the post-war period. From 1954 to 1959 and once again from 1973 to 1975, he was a "Segretario" (corresponding to a chairman) of his party. He was also Italian Prime Minister six times, but only for a short time. Altogether he was head of government for about four and a half years. In 1965/66 he was President of the UN General Assembly. In 1968-1973, 1976-1982 and 1985-1987 Fanfani was President of the Italian Senate.

Amintore Fanfani war ein italienischer Politiker und Wirtschaftswissenschaftler. Er war während der Nachkriegszeit einer der wichtigsten Politiker seines Landes. Von 1954 bis 1959 und noch einmal von 1973 bis 1975 war er „Segretario“ (dies entspricht einem Vorsitzenden) seiner Partei. Außerdem war er sechsmal italienischer Ministerpräsident, jedoch immer nur für kurze Zeit. Insgesamt war er etwa viereinhalb Jahre Regierungschef. Er war auch mehrmals Außenminister Italiens. 1965/66 war er Präsident der UN-Generalversammlung. 1968–1973, 1976–1982 und 1985–1987 war Fanfani Präsident des italienischen Senats.
