These trusses are part of a great room addition that landed at a building site in northern New Jersey this past week. The addition measures about 30'x30' with no center supports. The trusses allow for a cathedral ceiling, completely clear spanned with no ridge posts in the middle of the room.

New Jersey doesn't have much of a snow load, but the overall size of the addition was enough that we needed an up-size in the timbers. The rafters and collar ties are 6x10 Douglas Fir with 6x6 Douglas Fir web members. All of the connecting hardware is hidden, adding strength and beauty to the finished product. Once the trusses are up it's only about another full day until the roof is weather-tight.

This is going to be a great project that the contractors will enjoy working on all winter and the homeowner can watch progress daily.
