Introducing my dentist

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Weird title huh?

I just came back home from my dentist appointment, and as strange as it may be, Hector (my dentist) gave me some things to think about.

First of all, he told me he can tell by watching a person's teeth lots of stuff, about their personality, how they manage their daily lives and how healthy is their whole body.

Then, he asked me this:

What's the most important thing in your life? I looked far into the horizon as if trying to figure out the meaning of life

Only seconds later he says:

"You see? That is why you are like this. The most important thing in your life is me, and the most important thing in mine is you."

And I start thinking to myself: Is this guy trying to hit on me?

He laughs and continues: "The only thing that exists for you and me now is this moment, there is nothing else. Until you fully understand that your life will be always full of weariness, stress and unhappiness... And in 10 years from now you won't have any teeth left"

It may sound a little cliché to repeat the "Seize the moment" sermon. But, according to my dentist, however weird that may sound, our brain is always trying to decide what to erase while we sleep, and if we don't "live in the moment" he will find everything all messy in there. Our brain cannot decide what's really important and cannot classify all that information. So, in order to release stress our strongest muscles contract and our jaw starts destroying out teeth and mandible. Instead of waking up in pain and tired all the time... I might take this advice seriously from now on.

"Life is very simple and happens very quickly" he said. And then he started telling a crazy story about him being kicked out of his dorm and ending up in jail or something... Nevermind.

I really hope you find this helpful and that I get to keep my teeth for some timeIMG_4992.jpg
