HOW I WAS HARRASSED AT ITU ROAD

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Guy 1: Where you, hollam dia
Guy 2: You just they muscle around abi
You think say we no go catch abi,
Say you don run
Me: I don't think I've met you guys
before
Guy: heyz before you start speak
english for here, You bag-up?
Me: Bag-up? Wetin be Bag-up?

Next thing I know, they were searching me, I tried to protest, one of the guy showed me a gun holstered in the belt of his pants. So had to comply. I was carrying a laptop in the back bag I was carrying and if I protested more they would discover the laptop and also take the phone with them. Another incident happened at Ikpa road in uyo and the guy that was attacked struggled and lost his life and the phone. So I thought it wise to advise myself. Although, what baffled me was the time and the effect of the environment that day.
It was still very early, barely 4:30pm I just had a chat with a fellow steemian @yanga at barracks road and then i was on my way to @stach hub at no 51 ITU road when I encountered these three oddly dressed boys (I mean who wears thick cardigans in a hot weather) walking opposite direction towards the traffic light when the above conversation transpired. So am just wondering, someone is not safe even at a time like that (4:30pm)? Just because of the colors in the outfit I was wearing which takes me to my next question.
When did red and white become banned for people to wear? I was wearing a white shirt, black trousers but my shoes had red, black and white strips and these according to my friends attracted me to them, so red and white happens to be the color for a particular fraternity. So does black and black, so now someone cannot wear what he wants depending on the mood he/she is in that morning before you leave home again? Haba!!!

Another thing to talk about, the environment. I think if we want to see the change in the society we are in it starts with YOU, yes you. How can you see someone being harrassed and you just pass on without coming to atleast ask what happening, instead you pass and turn your head back and say in mind that guy is being harrassed well what are gonna do about it? It might not be you today but this might be happening to you tomorrow or maybe a loved one.
With weapon or not we ought to be our brothers keeper. Thanks to @samstickkz for your support also @vheobong and finally @ifioklee God bless you for being there when I needed you guys.

Is only here in uyo I noticed that even though they are beating you along the road, cry for help no one will come to your rescue unlike Lagos just raise an alarm you will see people coming to your aid they don't need to know you before they help you,but uyo you are strictly on your own

The days are generally evil. This could have happened anywhere, unfortunately it happened in uyo.

too bad, sorry bro...
