A Little Oasis in Budapest's City Center – Honved Park
It was 35 degrees celsius today in Budapest and after a long day the sun finally goes down. We have a newborn and a 4 year old who wants to play all day long. Where do we go for a little escape and relaxation for mom and dad and extra playing time for our little girl during the day or after dinner?
Budapest's inner city has several small to 'not-so-small' city parks that are a great way to take a breather at the end of the day.
We live in the 5th district (Lipotvaros) and for us one spot is Honved park. It's located on the Pest side of the Danube river a few steps behind the Kossuth square. This perfect little escape is where you can gaze around the beautiful garden flowers and pine trees, play in the playground with the kids, exercise on the outdoor equipment, or just sit down, relax and listen to all the chirping birds around you. There's even a soccer- and basketball court if you so desire.
Towards the backside of the park, you can find memorial dedicated to those who died during the soviet era in the work camps.
Here are some pictures to give you an idea of this cool little park on hot, summer June night.
Love this post. Did not know about this park. :-)
take you there after lunch at Szimpla next time ;)
