Why do I Dumpster Dive?

  • Bring awareness on how much food is wasted with our current system!
  • Save the abundance of food that is wasted and share it with my network!
  • Minimizing costs enabling me to Power Up 100%!
  • Great regular exercise and good karma... ;)

Thursdays Weekly Meet-ups:

We meet up on Thursdays in the middle of the city to share the food we've saved during the week. It's a great way to meet, connect and support each other. We meet between 6-7 pm at the same time as the decentralized farmers market that I've initiated!

dividerblue.png

I regularly invite friends over to share the abundance of food, been doing it for many years but now I also of course make sure to introduce them to the Steem blockchain! ;)

I am new to your campaign but just to open the discussion more here on this blog, what is your main theory of why all of this is being wasted? I can think of a couple different arguments. Some may say it is the greedy capitalists and their disdain for poor people. Others would say that it is government interference and overburdening regulations that force businesses to toss perfectly good products.

I would love to have this discussion with you and all of the followers here.

i can't speak for where @reko is, but in the US a lot of things have what is dubbed "shelf life" so when something is "over a designated time" it has to be thrown out! that means even perfectly good food. and there are regulations and legalities that wont let that food be donated! completely stupid! it is stupid laws- your second point i think.

i think also it is a human fear of real life... as a gardener and homesteader i know apples are not perfect ; food rots and goes to waste! the cycle of life happens very quickly. people try to have the perfect apples (all heavily sprayed) in the stores and the consumer looks at apples and only wants the perfect ones. it comes down to swaying public opinion and also public willingness to buy from local farmers and such as well. the stores carry what people want and what they buy so we are feeding the capitalist machine.

Reko good job! Do you have a many competitors?

Wow.

It is insane exactly how much food goes to the waste from grocers.

You are to be commended!

BLAST OFF BROTHER!!!

JGV

It is truly insane but we'll stop it don't worry!;)

Just the matter of time

Dinner looks good. Add some Tim's Cascade potato chips and a ginger beer and you've really got something!

I'm 100% salt free (inorganic) so no can do!;)

Good for you! Probably a lot healthier for you. So many things today are loaded with salt and sugar.

indeed but salt is the biggest problem imo especially as it's in everything and people don't think twice...

Sweet bro, you make me wana put my scuba gear on and go diving myself again! And you got your Gin!

this is a lot of food that was been put to waste, we need to find a way to recycle all this food back to the common man who needs it instead of throwing it away , this is a waste and to imagine how many more are been thrown away in the whole of the country

Your steem power is great. Keep it up

My mind has been blown by your posts on this. What crazy "waste"!

I just need to find a dumpster with beer in it.

I appreciate this so much brother. Resteemed

Wow you have my respect for really doing it and diving into the dust.
