Re-Building A Life
When you build a life with someone you try and create a new narrative that threads elements of your goals and needs in to a functional path that includes the ambitions and goals of the person you love. It can be difficult to know which elements to include and which to leave out. Decisions or goals you think you will be fine with giving up, rear their ugly head when the calm strikes. Being in a relationship forces you to make sacrifices, the power of which may unravel you and the relationship you have worked so hard to achieve. It is difficult to come into a time of great challenge as a couple as you find that your actions and mistakes reverberate and cause so much more harm than would have ever occurred if you were alone. It is not easier to give up on a dream, a life path or a partner. But, sometimes the thought of which can feel like an escape from the problems that have manifested themselves. You should not have to drown in the muck of someone else's failure and darkness, but a relationship, a life, a great love. Those things have value. They are major rewards and if you can find a way to piece your lives back together as a whole while identifying the issues and needs of the individuals, you may in fact find success.
I am hoping to find that success, to rebuild effectively and manage to save the thing that is most precious to me. A relationship is not a life. However, a successful relationship creates a meaningful life. I truly believe that.
