Plant a life
Plant a life
“Plant a life
Wash away the sins
Reincarnation
Is in the hands of yours”
This is the last glimpse of the dream I had. Before I woke up to the
horrendous noise of traffic,
Covering my ears with my pillow,
I Tried to reach back to my dream.Nothing!
Only the thought
You are late to work.
Shaking myself out of absurdity
I thought “ fuck it go to work”.Went out walking to work
Sweating like a fat bulldog
I thought “ damn! I need some shade”
Though There was none.I was on Gandhi Street
Where there used to be a peepal tree
It was 1000 years old
Older than the bazaar
Older than the city
Elders had named it Mitra
The friend of everyoneMitra was the paradise after school
It was my loyal friend
It was The place where I was me
It was the protector of all
It had no prejudice,
It gave shelter to everyone
Even those who were full of prejudiceMitra was a guardian
Mitra was a life saver
The grand old peepal tree was the symbol of altruism
Giving everything it had
Asking in return for nothingAlas! Mitra is long dead now
Shredded in pieces
By the same people
Whom it protectedTrue to its selflessness
Mitra was a friend even after dead
It was the burning wood of the poor
It was the furniture of the rich
It was the paper of the kidsSweating and crying
I stood on the pavement of Gandhi Street
It was Mitra in my dreams!
Those were Mitra’s words
“Plant a life
Wash away the sins
Reincarnation
Is in the hands of yours”Mitra choose me
Choose me to spread the message
Plant a life.
That’s what I will do
Plant a life every day.When I’ll die
Don’t burn me
Make a tree out of me
That will be my reincarnation
